In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Anyone else that would like to see a sticky that is an index of all the Good Guy certificates? I think it would make searching easier to have an alphabetical listing to browse over.

agreed, an alphabetical listing would make it much more convenient (although i suppose we could just use the search feature)

Actually that section is in alphabetical order of the thread title. But since the certificate number is at the beginning of the thread title, that is how it is arranged. Since the original design had in mind people linking in from the particpants website to check their certificate status, this seemed the best way to do this.

As for a thread indexing all the entries, someone would have to create and maintain it. As has often been the case here, someone will offer to do something here, enthusiastically jump in, then a few months later lose interest and abandon it. That forces me to either take it over myself, find someone else willing to do it, or abandoning it myself. :shrug01:

At first glance, I think that most would think "alphabetical order...that makes sense" - but if one is just looking, does it matter if the entries are arranged alphabetically or numerically? If you are looking for a specific entity, the search feature is the easiest way, unless you aren't sure WHO you are looking for.
If the goal is simply to make things as easy as possible to both find out if a member has a GGC, and access it, what about including a means to access it through the members public profile. Would that be feasible? Just an option in the User CP, that allows the link to be entered - making it optional, and putting that entry in the hands of the GGC holder. That way, when viewing an ad (or any post), you can click on the profile of the seller, see if they have a certificate, and click a link to the poll.
Hmmmm - maybe I'll add mine to my signature for the time being.

Just curious.
I was browsing through the GGC listings and I noticed there are a lot of gaps in the certificate numbers. Are these all people who have lost their GGC for whatever reason, or is something else going on. I didn't think that there had been that many taken down.

Also, didn't there used to be a listing of the inactive certificate holders?

Thank you.

Mike

I just tabulated the certificates on the first page.
Certificates numbering from 1 to 78 are missing 54 entries.
Have that many people really dropped from the program?

Mike,
There are a number of reasons that people's certificates might be missing.
- They decided that they no longer want to participate in the program
- They no longer have a website
- They allow their Contributor level (or above) membership to expire
- They have a negative trader rating, or a GCC approval of <50%
(I'm probably forgetting something)

Yes, there were listings of withdrawn and suspended certificates at one point.

Thanks Harald.
I had read Webslave's stickies regarding the rules of the program.
I was just surprised by the number of certificates that are missing.
I thought maybe the program was being restructured or something.

I wonder why the listings of withdrawn and suspended certificates were removed.

There are probably a lot more. I don't have the system automated to determine who has allowed their required membership to lapse, which suspends them from the program. And I certainly have not had the time to manually audit each and every one of them. I suspect if I did that, I might be discouraged enough by the remaining existing participation to just shut it down and be done with it.

Because on reflection, I thought it may be a negative aspect of participating within the program. Someone who simply decides to no longer participate, really shouldn't be exposed publicly for that fact, where some people might assume there is something negative associated with being "suspended" or "withdrawing". So some people may be reluctant to even start the program out of concern that it could later on be detrimental to them.

So I removed that section from public view.
