In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Anyone Use These?

I do for water at the front of a rack and as a hide in the back. They're great. They don't spill in smaller racks and they are easy to refill or remove/replace.

They almost look like the white deli cups with no holes in the sides, and a large hole in the lid. Is that what they are?

Thanks. I think I'll order a case. I'm tired of the bigger ones constantly moving and dumping their bowls.

This girl constantly ticks me off. As soon as I change the water she just has to move the dish around and eventually dump it all over the place.
Anything to deter that would be great.

Looks like a girl that big might not be able to get her head through the hole. Why not use 4" PVC couplers from Home Depot with 16oz deli cups in them? I use them for every snake over about 300-400 grams (when they start being able to spill the 8oz deli cups). My biggest girls can't even tip them over! HD has the white couplers and Lowes sells the black couplers if you like that look better.

Be careful!

I've heard of snake drowning in the covered bowls with the hole in the middle. I use the same system but I cut my holes on the edge near the sides.

I use small litter pans bordered by bricks for snakes of any size.

Well, these did not work as planned.
I bought a case and they are now sticking their heads in and dumping them and the smaller snakes are attempting to use these as hides and spilling them.
So much for not having dumped water bowls anymore.

I got a good idea... glue a 5 lb weight on the bottom of their water bowl... or you can buy those heavy stone looking water bowls which are around $5 at a pet store.

I would just buy the lids and use regular delis for the water. Here is why.

I have had snakes drown in these things if the water level is filled so high as to run over when the animal crawls in and displaces the water out the hole.

I had a friend lose a young ball python (Mojave I think) a couple of years ago. We couldn't figure out exactly what happened but the water dish was found upside down with the snake in it. He uses newspaper and what we could come up with was that somehow he flipped the container crawling in and when it landed upside down the remaining water leaking out formed a vacuum inside the container and the snake suffocated.

He still uses them I think but he uses the punched delis or at least he puts a couple of holes in them just below the rim before he puts them in with the snake. I have switched to the sewer pipe couplers with 16 oz deli cups in most my racks but I do still use a similar covered dish for my babies. I just make sure to put a hole in the side as well.
