• Responding to email notices you receive.
    **************************************************
    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Just wanted to let everyone know that this site is being moved to a new server today. Most of the file moves are being done right now, so the downtime should be minimized. When the database for the site needs to be moved, I will lock down this message board, have the datafile copied, change the DNS pointers, and reopen the site when the move is completed. Shouldn't be all that long doing it this way.

Sorry, I can't give you an accurate time of when to expect this. Also, with the way this is being done, it is possible that some attachments may not get moved if they are posted after the file move. So if that happens, you may have to edit out the attachment and put in a new one. Sorry, but the alternative was to lock the entire site almost all day to do the move.

Chat will be reopened a few days later once I see the site running rock solid. This requires copying another domain to the server and installing a module at the server level. So I don't want to do that until I'm sure the server is OK.

OK, the move is complete. Looks like we may have dropped a couple of posts made after the database was captured and before I could actually close the site. Sorry about that, but the server guy was anxious to get started, I guess.

Now, let's see if any glitches crop up...

yeah - I've gotten a couple of notifications with no corresponding post. Looks like it went relatively smoothly from this end...I read the post via email, and checked the site sporadically thereafter - never even noticed a loss of service (though, admittedly, I was out of the house for a couple of hours)

The difference in response time from today to previous is like night and day. The site is zipping right along now.

I agree, it seems to be a lot quicker. Thanks Rich!!!
