    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I am looking for breeders/brokers of tortoises and box turtles in DFW area of Texas. Also may be in San Antonio for week of April.
Have just set-up eight 8x4 and 4 8x8 very secure runs for tortoises on my property (figured, I'd just do everything all at once! I've spent months planning, and it seemed to make sense to do it all now, and not have to expand later) Only have turts and torts for the first few runs!!
I'm not looking for anything specific, or for anything in a big hurry, but would prefer not to ship.
Any age, ay type--nothing too rare or pricey just yet...let me get several more years of experiece under my belt (and more dollars in the bank account....after all, I did just build hudreds of dollars worth of pens!) before I take on stars or aldabras....
Please email:

Thanks so much!

Remember that it is illegal to own more than 6 or to sell NATIVE box turtles in Texas.

apply to legally obtained specimens from out side of the State of Texas?

Do you mean "would it be legal to own 7 box turtles of ONE subspecies that is native to Texas but were purchased from Louisiana?" The answer is NO according to what I have been told by the head dogs at TPWD. You can't sell ones purchased from out of state, either, if they are native to Texas. This does NOT apply to subspecies/species not native to Texas (buy and sell them if you want - own 200 if you want) under the current enforcement of the regulations. It's weird. The regs list it to species, but TPWD says it applies to subspecies in Texas only. Since I stay in contact with a few of them, I will post in all the forums I can if I am ever told that has changed.

Also, there is technically the import/export permit that must be filed for all natives shipped into/out of Texas. I have filed export permits, but no import permits yet. This all goes back to the "white list versus black list" regs that are new as of 1Sept07.

You can own more than 6 if you had them prior to the new regs and get them grandfathered in on it. There was a window where "old" stock could be legally sold. I don't know if that window is still open or not, but it will be closed soon if it is not already closed.
