In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Spent the weekend in the hospital...

Was NOT a fun weekend....

Started Thursday night with some pains in my abdomen. Just figured I had pulled some muscles somehow. But things got worse thru Friday. I thought I must have REALLY pulled those muscles! Friday night I got the sweats and almost passed out in the bathroom. I made it back to bed but was as wet as I would have been just stepping out of the shower. Later in the morning, around 7am Saturday, I had the shakes (chills?) so bad that I thought I was having a seizure. I couldn't even dress myself, my hands were shaking so bad. I couldn't take my own temperature because I would have bitten the thermometer right in half with my teeth chattering like they were.

So Connie hauled my butt off to the emergency room at Tallahassee Memorial around 8 am Saturday.

Long story short, the doctor on duty in the ER felt confident that I had appendicitis. So they ran me through a CAT scan to verify it, rounded up a surgeon, an anesthesiologist, and an operating room (which took some time) and by 9 pm I was waking up in the recovery room wondering what the hell had happened. Oh yeah, that pain.... The surgeon said I had a slight hernia in my belly button area, so he stitched that up while was was "in there". I am astonished at how small the incisions made actually were, which is REAL good, otherwise I'd be down for 6 to 8 weeks. This shouldn't knock me down for anywhere NEAR that amount of time, but certainly RIGHT NOW, I'm not feeling all that spiffy. Someone rooting around in your guts for your appendix just does a number on you.... But fortunately it hadn't burst open, or things would have been pretty dicey.

I got back home just a short while ago, so I'm going to be taking it easy for a few days. So any emails or PMs are going to be delayed getting replied to quite a bit. I can feel it's about time for a pain pill, RIGHT NOW..... :ack2:

Just letting you all know why I'm going to be scarce for a bit.....

Rich, I'm sorry to hear that you were/are in so much pain. Steve had a hernia operation many years ago (before we met) and he said it was really painful for a few days after. It sounds like the procedure isn't quite as bad now. I hope you feel better soon.

What an AWFUL weekend. Hope you feel better soon. Whatever needs doing can wait; just take care of yourself and rest.

glad it did not burst my friend. Get better bro and take your time. No need to rush..... Fauna is not going anywhere.... I do not think it is anyways lol.

well.....
that just sucks

I'm sorry you had a rough weekend. Let us know if we can help out at all~ I'm not close enough to clean tubs but if you think of something we can do to help out long distance let us know. Feel better~

And TRY to have a better Monday than your Saturday was!
Get well soon

WOW! I'm glad your appendix didn't burst... what a mess! It's AMAZING what they can do now with surgery... not that long ago you would have had an incision all the way across the lower right side of your abdomen! I hope you get better soon, Rich. Being down is tough, and pain is even tougher!

Hope you get to feeling better soon Rich. My condolences to you and the wife, I am sure this has been a bit rough for the both of you. Take care of yourself now.

Thanks everyone. I feel like I am on the mend already. When the pain pill wears off, the pain isn't as severe as it has been. Still quite a bit of achiness and tenderness, though. Connie has forced me a gunpoint to stay out of the animal buildings, so I'm antsy to get better so I can take the additional workload off of her. Still getting a lot of eggs being dropped, so that is quite a chore right now. Wish this appendix stuff had held off for a couple of more weeks, but such is life. It could have happened at MUCH worse times, so I can't grouse too much about it. Yeah, several years ago I would have been out for 6 to 8 weeks easy. And I'm sure the pain initially would have been accordingly much more severe.

The hernia thing actually feels more painful than the incisions for the appendix. My worst fear right now is a sneeze. I'm hoping I don't just split in half when that happens. The longer I go without one, the easier the ride will be.

I'm going to try to do some light duty stuff tomorrow. I just can't sit around twiddling my thumbs while Connie is carrying all the load like this. I can't allow her to kill herself trying to keep me from killing myself.

I hope you get to feeling better Rich, it is no fun being sick/in pain. And even worse during the breeding season, best wishes on a fast recovery.
