Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them.     Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I would like to know if you are required to have a permit to own an american alligator in genesee county, Michigan. I really don't need people's opinions on whether or not I should get one, I just want to know If I need a permit. I love reptiles of all sorts and was recently informed that a friend of the family has a gator he can no longer care for. I know they can live 60 years, and actually think this little guy would make a great lifelong friend. Right now he is only 3.5', and I know he will get much bigger. I've been handling him and getting to know "Guss" over the past few weeks in hopes that soon he will be mine. Right now he is in a cage that I personally think is too small, and would love to give this guy a forever home. Does anyone know how often you have to renew the permit, if required, and if you have to pay the fee each year or however long you have to renew them. Hopefully one of the moderators on here can give me some advice. It would be greatly apreciated! Please send replies to [email protected]

No, the state of michigan does not require you to have a permit for housing any crocodilians, but your local city and countys have their own laws about owning or housing exotics in a captive situation, from my dealing with DNR i come to notice its only legal in about 2 percent of the state, if you live anywhere near a residential area you can forget it, you can face a few dangerous animal charges, but to answer ur question no u do not need a permit in the state of michigan:)
