    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I am putting these guys up for best sale or trade offer. Let me know what you're willing to do and we can probably work something out. Thanks.

No they are not venomoid. They are not aggressive at all. Now, that is not to say that caution can be discarded, when dealing with any hot, even rear fanged, you should always be completely responsible. These two are between 12" and 16" currently. Sexed male and female. Eating live mice. Can be tailed with zero difficulty. Have handled them before and never showed any signs of striking. They max out around 3' with 3.5' being a record size. A very manageable species. They were going to be my foundation breeders for this species but now I need some larger caging and supplies, so that's why they're up here.

Cool. I know my fiance wanted a rattlesnake- are these guys rear-fanged or front-fanged like the diamondbacks? We are down near Philly and I will be coming up to Wilkes-Barre for the Easter holiday. What would you consider as a cash offer for them? Also, what might you be looking for in trade?

They are front fanged. It would be easier for you to call me at 570-636-2387. Or i could call you if you pm me your number.

Thanks for the good word. And on reticforlife's behalf... I have one of his own bred lavender albinos and a het. Excellent snakes. Keep an eye out for his listings, you won't be disappointed.

how potent is their venom? what could it be compared to? is it pretty much the same for all in the crotalus family? i only ask because there isnt as much information on crotalus stephensi, as there is say crotalus adamanteus.
and i would like to learn as much as i can about the panamint......sorry i dont mean to take away from your thread.

these questions you ask show you know almost nothing about venomous snakes. please reconsider getting into venomous keeping until you have done a lot of research and maybe worked with a mentor a bit. ive been keeping hots for a few years, including this species and i can tell you it is in no way similar to keeping other snakes. although this species venom isnt as dangerous as that of some others, it still has the potential to kill you. if not kill you then plan on losing a digit from a bite and having a hospital bill in the tens of thousands, insurance will not cover a captive snake bite. if hot keeping is something you want to get into, start by looking for a book called "venomous snakes in captivity" by b.w. smith. its a great book that will help you get started in the right direction. reading that book will show you there is a lot more to keeping hots than a screen lid on a glass tank and dropping food and water in. btw, tailing a 12-16 inch snake is great way to get bit.
reticaboa, why would you even consider selling these snakes to someone so inexperienced with venomous snakes. not only that but you are telling them that they are ok to handle?

:iagree:Hold on a second buddy. I understand your concern, and I appreciate the information you placed on here for the unknowledgeable (sp?) people interested in these snakes. But I would like to clear some things up. Firstly, I would never sell these snakes to someone whose questions were "Are they front or rear-fanged?". As much as I am in favor of hot keeping, I am against irresponsible hot keeping. Just like you I feel that a lot more experience is needed to keep these types of snakes. I spoke with that particular poster on the phone and they will not be purchasing my snakes. It is more important to me to be responsible and safe then it is to turn a buck. And secondly, I would not ever suggest "handling" them as you would a python or other "pet" snake. When I refer to handling, I mean that working with them with a hook, tailing them, or moving them around to clean their caging is not a difficulty. They are, relative to this, easy to handle. I would never suggest exercising any less caution with these than with a black mamba. I apologize if some of my statements may have been misleading to some, but I assure you that I would never recommend free handling of these snakes to anyone.

I think she was asking about the fangs because you had mentioned using caution with even rear-fanged hots, and there was some confusion. Obviously, rattlesnakes are front-fanged. We have a few rear-fanged hots already, and of course we are very careful in our handling of them, as with all of our snakes. Carpet python bites hurt too! ;) I had previously mentioned looking into getting a rattlesnake 'at some point' when we have a LOT more space and are able to build 'it' (not they, I don't want to breed them) a custom enclosure to suit its needs. In the eventual scenario when I DO get one, it will be handled with a hook and protective gauntlet gloves. I think she was getting a little carried away with getting me something I had mentioned wanting without checking with me as to my intentions first. No harm, no foul :)

First of all.... I agree with what "fishmich" said. Handling hot herps should not be takin lightly. My wife came home once to find out that I was being flown to Hershey Medical Center with a really bad bite by a Timber Rattler. I almost died that night and, ever since, I pray that no young herper is as stupid as I was that night. It took 27 vials of Cro Fab to keep me alive and I still have nerve damage in certain areas. That being said, I agree with fishmich, but I would also like to know if these snakes are still available. Though that snake almost killed me, it also sparked a passion for venomous animals. I have developed a certain fondness for Crotalids and have since kept and bred several species.. If they are still available and you are still willing to trade, let me know. I live not far from Hazleton, in Slatington.

Thanks,
Jesse
