In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Has anyone had any dealings with "East Bay Vivarium". I am looking to buy a monitor from them and would like any information that I can get about them first.

Alex - The East Bay Vivarium has been a fixture in the Bay Area since I was a kid (many moons ago). John and Cliff are outstanding in not only their knowledge of reptiles, but in the way they care for and house them. I work only 3 miles away, and visit the Vivarium weekly.. For such an extensive collection, I've yet to see anything but healthy animals on display.. You can't go wrong purchasing from the East Bay Vivarium , and just for the heck of it, tell them Stephen Emerick of Napa Valley Snakes referred you to them and I'll cover 10 bucks in discount for you!! Just have John or Cliff give me a call..

Thanks, Stephen Emerick

I have bought many animals from EBV and never experienced a problem. As a matter of fact, I just bought a large dumeril's monitor from them on Saturday.

I don't want to burst any bubbles here, but I go there quite a bit myself, and see a few things that aren't as perfect as has been stated. I am reporting what I see,and I am not friends of the business.

In the past, I have purchased 1.1 Argentine rainbow boas, 0.2 adult female BP's and a friend has purchased 1.0 Pueblan Milk and a bearded dragon. All of these animals are still doing fine and are great specimens.
My negative findings aren't anything they can't fix, but seem par for the course in a large operation like theirs.
I have seen a large burm ~covered~ with mites about a month or so ago. Same rack as the rest of the large snakes they carry. If I owned the place, I'd be kinda ticked off that this snake was allowed into the "general population".
The employees have varying degrees of knowlege in varying animals, so it isn't uncommon (like in my friends case) to hear totally opposite info about a particular animal. Most of the employees are friendly, so that's good, but the Viv has that "Zoo" feeling. So many things going on at once that it's hard to give good attention to customers in my opinion.

Bottom line:
Can you get a good animal from them? Yes.
Are they the best prices around? Sometimes.
Will I buy from there again? Probably.
BUT
I think it would be a good idea to know your animals needs and don't listen to EVERYTHING you hear. Not all of the employees have the knowlege that John and Cliff do.

Again. Just my opinion.

Thank you for all of the info, but it looks like Richard bought the monitor that I wanted.

Sorry Alex. I breed them and she will be a good addition that will produce nice babies. I have some eggs that are about to hatch now, If the buyer backs out I will post them in the classifieds. I have another clutch due to hatch in July.
Good luck.
