In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hi!

I have been smoking for 5 years and I stopped smoking around 2 weeks. What worries me is that for the past year I have basically chest pains and recently I begun having a consistent cough and some an occasional mucus (yellowy/brown). Should I be worried that I have lung cancer? Or could it be something else that I have? Because one thing is for sure... this is a sign that there is something wrong.

Your chest pains call for IMMEDIATE attention...next time,go to your emergency room..anyone can get lung cancer, even a non-smoker so the possibility is there. You can't get any diagnosis from an opinion....just get to the doc.... chest pain is a BIG red flag. This is a herp forum so I don't know that this will not be moved to another area ...anyway,I wish you the best !!

I'm not sure about the getting lung cancer question but I agree that the coughing up of stuff is a definite sign that your lungs are not happy. Smoking could just be aggravating an upper respiratory infection or some other ailment but quitting smoking is a good idea either way. Lung cancer is not the way you want to go out, trust me I saw what it can do to a person and I would not wish that upon anyone.

The increased cough and mucous production is pretty common among recent quitters.
Your description isn't enough to confirm or rule out anything (and it would be pretty silly for anybody to try)...the best advice is to see your doctor if you are concerned.

Because one thing is for sure... this is a sign that there is something wrong.

Definitely a trip to the doctor. A lot of things can be fixed if caught early enough, or at least give you a fighting chance.

Congrats on the decision to quit. I did it 4 years ago in January, best present I ever gave myself.

Yes,I forgot to add that...BIG congrats on quitting, don't go back to it,the cravings will go away for sure.I smoked from age 12-28 and quit 20 years ago_One of the best things you can do for your health AND your wallet.

As for the initial question, you can get lung cancer after smoking just one cigarette. Carcinogens are hit or miss. The more exposure you have, the higher your risk is. Either the mutation occurs, or it doesn't...this is why you very occasionally get some old guy in his 90s who's smoked all his life, but never gets cancer. He was just ultra-lucky. It's possible to be ultra-unlucky too.
