In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

His website is at www.kingsnakes.com. I have a situation to cope with and noting that his website hasn't been updated since 10/30/02 doesn't give me a warm fuzzy feeling.

Has anyone done any business or spoken with him recently?

I have done business with John for a long time and am just trying to get a handle on his current situation.

Thanks.

Wow Rich, that is a blast from the past. I dealt with him several times, about 10 years ago I think. I have not heard his name in a long time. He was always a nice guy and had good colubrids I bought from him. Evan Stahl

The last dealings I had with him was back in August. I asked to be put on the list for a pair of 2002 Hypo Stripes. I recall being put on this list very early in the season. From time to time I would check in and he would say the hypo stripes would be produced later in the season than the rest of his corns. He assured me that I still had a good spot on the list. Around August I emailed him again (which I still have this email for some anal reason), and asked if a deposit would better ensure me getting the animals. His response was
"Yes, If you would like to put down a deposit you may. A deposit will go in front of a reserved status so it is possible at the moment for someone to slide under your order. Usually I give the reserves a warning before I let that happen."
Of course this is very standard procedure, but oddly about a week later when I got payed I emailed him asking if a 25% deposit was sufficient, my email went unanswered. I emailed him about once a week for a month before I gave up. I didn't feel comfortable sending money to some one who didn't answer thier email. I was pretty bummed because by the time I had to realize I wasn't getting the animals, (around Sept) it was too late to find a pair of this uncommen morph available. I was able to locate a male, but being unable to find a female sets me back a year. I understand if he for some reason was unable to produce these animals, but I should have gotten a heads up so I could get them some where else.
This really bothered me for awhile, but I didn't consider it enough to start a "bad guy thread". I try to give people the benifit of doubt and just look at it as a misunderstanding. I would probably only post a bad guy post if I had large amounts of evidence of gross wrongdoing.
So this is what it is, you asked for recent experience, this was my most recent experience with Herpto-Critters. Don't know if it is "bad guy", "good guy", or in a class of it's own.

Well, I guess I need to put closure on this entire thing. Some astute individuals may put 2 and 2 together with another message I posted in another forum concerning this situation, and rather than leave any questions hanging, I want to stamp this one closed.

A couple of years ago, I sold some snakes to John Organiscak. He offered me a credit card number to pay for them, but since it was a substantial sum of money, I really didn't want to be paying the bank's interest rate they charge me, and I asked him to just send me a check to pay for the animals. Unfortunately, right around this time (at least as far as I can recollect), his wife became seriously ill, and their finances took a real hit from the medical bills and her being out of work during treatments. Apparently eventually John lost his job as well because of taking too much time off to care for his wife during this trying time.

The following summer rolled around and John and I discussed the outstanding debt and a way to resolve the problem. I agreed to send him an even larger order of animals, in the hopes that he could sell off those animals, and be able to pay off the entire bill and possibly have enough in his pocket as well. But this did not work as planned, as he had some very substantial medical bills that had to have a higher priority, which I understood.

But sometimes I just get nervous, I guess, and having gotten screwed before, I felt that maybe I'm just being played for a sucker. I know everyone wants to give someone the benefit of the doubt, but sooner or later there comes a time when you begin to doubt your own judgement. So that was when I posted this thread, to see if there was any reason at all that I should be real concerned about this debt owed to me. And I have to admit I was very relieved that there was not, based on the lack of any real negative responses here.

So I decided that I would just wait it out.

So, a week or two ago, I was stricken with a thought that maybe I could resolve this entire issue. Absolutely a flash of inspiration, if I must say so myself. I really didn't want to just forgive the debt, although that had crossed my mind several times. Certainly I'm not making that kind of money to be able to just say to someone "Ah, forget about all that money you owe me and have a nice day." But I certainly was not going to pester John about it either.

So I had an idea. With my best "Godfather" voice impersonation, I called John on the phone, and told him that I had an offer that he could not refuse to resolve this outstanding problem we have. Actually he could have refused it, but heck, it sounded good.

So after some thought, John accepted my offer, and I am satisfied that everything has worked out to be in both of our best interests. I believe he is relieved about the way this ended, and I have to admit that this is every bit as satisfying to me as getting a check in the mail for the total amount owed to me would have been.

So, I am now the proud owner of the domain name KingSnakes.com and John Organiscak no longer owes me a dime.

Amazing what a good laugh is worth these days...

This case is now officially closed.

Rich, that really makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. How cool is that? Sneaky, somewhat evil, sly, clever, smart, intelligent, admirable, dude, will you be my mentor?

I am still chuckling five minutes later. This is one of those karma things you only hear about.

Way to go.

what a coup

And why am I not surprised that when I typed in kingsnakes.com I was routed directly to Faunaclassifieds.com. Most excellent dude.

Maybe this can even be used as a lesson for others.. don't over react, threaten or lose your temper... things can work out in the end without making yourself look like an idiot.

Glad to hear it worked out for you!

Scott - I do believe you are right. I am humbled by the way things turned out in this. So many things fell together in just the right way, and most of them circumstances out of my control. If things hadn't gone the way they had between JeffB and myself, I would have had absolutely no interest in getting KingSnakes.com from John.

Maybe there really is such a thing as karma....

John does still have KingSnakes.net..... :D
