Good Guy John Turl

I recently purchased some fat tail geckos from John Turl. His prices were very fair. Other than a slight misunderstanding about when shipping would occur and the fact that he doesn't accept Paypal, it all went smoothly and the animals arrived in good condition.

John followed up their arrival with email to check on their condition and see how they were settling in.

I would recommend purchasing from him.

Did you guys exchange emails in regards to this purchase? If so would you mind posting them with full headers?

I highly doubt this is a legitimate purchase. Till proof is provided after the bad guy thread caught with multiple usernames.

Wow, is everyone one on this site crazy, or what? I have not a clue what this entire situation IS, and suddenly I find myself "plopped unsuspectingly into it"! I posted my fat tails purchase and went about my business. Now today, in my inbox, I find a "reply" and arrive here to see my personal email is being asked for! I'm not the one on trial here, folks!

However, if someone would like to explain to me what posting the headers will prove, and walk me through how to do that (I'm not computer savvy - is it just a matter of c/p'ing?), I'll be happy to humor you folks if that will bring an end to my being doubted as well!

I assure you that I'm REAL, and I do NOT live in Ohio!

Though I'll have to clarify - it wasn't a single email, it was many. I'm handicapped and have difficulty getting out and around so I had to put John on hold while I managed to get to the bank for a cashiers check, and then to the post office, since he refuses to use Paypal.

It was the first purchase I'd ever made not using Paypal and it turned out to be very problematic for me. I won't be obtaining a reptile ever again if I can't make the payment on Paypal.

Sheesh, try to do someone a favor - and just look what happens! I don't know John personally. A friend found his posting for the fat tails, knew I was looking for some and told me about Fauna. I only joined here to contact John about the fat tails, which I did purchase.

I have also been doing Yahoo! Answers (reptiles) for over 2 yr. if you'd like to check me out there, I'm "Been there:done that - I think!" on that forum. You can find me under the top contributor leaderboard.

How my identity and the purchase came into doubt is beyond me! But I don't need any greif/bad history and will be happy to provide what is necessary to clear MY end of this mess!

Linda, if you truly are who you say you are than you are NOT on "trial" as you put it. And yes we are all "CRAZY" here as there is a constant barrage of SCAMS from the scum that pops up on here STEALS peoples money and runs back in to the shadows to do it again... with that said thanks for "helping out" your seller by posting your transactions here on the boi. The reason I am asking for the emails that transpired between John Turl and you is because it looks like he vouched for himself once and there are those out there that are interested in his animals but yet feel uncomfortable dealing with someone that appears to be shady... so I hope I answered all your questions? But yes I. Would like to know 100% With out a doubt that the person I'm seending money to exists and is honest. How can you help you ask? Post the emails with their full headers so we can look the over and see IF we feel comfortable with John Turl enough to send him our monies. Where did you mail the cert check to? Was it made out to John Turl or someone else?

I'm pretty sure it wasn't made out to him. He requested that I send it to his wife. Considering it was a "Divorce sale" is the first thing that made me uncomfortable.

As far as Linda Collins goes, she could post a picture of herself and I could tell you if she is who she says she is. There's only two woman in Richmond, VA named Linda Collins that I know of, and I know what they both look like. Also if she could tell me about her business that she runs it would also be an identifier.

Linda, are being cautious with your posting is 1) you are a brand new member to Fauna and have 2) Posted about someone who has a questionable reputation here, yet, only having a total of 6 posts (2 when starting this thread).

If you read the thread posted here by Richs Ball Pythons, you will see that he had someone post rave reviews of him, but, from his IP address. To a lot of us, that is very suspect at best. Now, I for one, believe that you are "real" and possibly have a good transaction to report. Its just that we would like to see the proof that you are just that. No one is on trial, inlcuding John Turl in this thread. We just question the practice of having people post "false positives" to establish themselves here on Fauna.

Good luck and please forgive us if we seem to be a little tentative regarding you and John Turl.

Really? Are you so sure you know the only two Linda Collins in Richmond? I am all for emails being posted but there are tons of people who do not post their photo on the internet. I just find it a rather odd request to tell someone "post a photo so I can verify you are who you say you are". I dunno, maybe I'm wrong.

So was there really a point to that post other than to pretty much say "How dare you make a request."

Besides if she's the Linda Collins I believe she is then her picture is posted all over the internet anyway as well as Pink Magazine.

Hell, her information is really quite easy to find on the internet. I just felt bad for the inquiries to her i.d. over a business deal from a known dishonest seller. But at the same time who knows. She could just as well be John Turl, or another one of his buddies.

That's true, but the Linda Collins in Pink Magazine owns a business in Midlothian, Va, about 15 miles from Richmond. Could be the same person.

Oh boy, I'm shaking my head over this. You guys don't mind asking questions, but you are very reluctant to answer them. If you read both of these threads I'm dealing with over this, you will see on BOTH that I asked if I can list my page address here so you guys CAN see who I am. But no one answers that - I just get more, "post email, do a photo," etc. I, ALSO, on the first page here, my LAST post for you folks, c/p'ed a letter from John with the letter header and asked if that was what you are asking for to prove it wasn't mailed from him TO him? Again, no answer.

I'm computer inept and just do NOT know what you folks are WANTING. Now, if you are asking for ALL the emails between John and I, I consider that a violation of MY privacy! I offered him some personal information about me, which I would supply to anyone I was purchasing from in exchange for a bit of information about themselves (yes, I like to feel secure about who I'm dealing with also), but I'm NOT posting my personal self all over the web in the form of personal emails!

I have photos on Hot or Not, for heaven's sake!!! And they have been there for YEARS! I'm no longer dating. lol I've been engaged for a good while now (you can also see HIM on my webpage - AND my daughter!!!)!

And I know a person's reputation is important, but I just don't feel the "welcome" I've received here is a very nice way to treat a new member! At the Drs' offices, I use TWO middle initials to attempt to make it easier for them to find my chart among the dozens upon dozens of Linda Collins'. Granted Collins isn't as common a name as Smith, but it's close enough!

I have already told you folks you can look me up on Yahoo! Answers (reptiles). I'm on the top contributor leaderboard. I have been on that forum over 2 yr. and you can't just "create" a join date. Yahoo! logs it. I have a photo there. I have offered my web site address here. I have several photos of me on my site (and they cover a 10 yr. span of age). I have references I can supply to MY buyers or the people who adopt from me. I do NOT have this issue, but here I am, defending myself for someone else's reputation issues! That's just not RIGHT, folks!

As for forums, you are asking for my photo here but on all these posts, I'm not seeing a photo of any of you, only your pets or website contact. I have not a CLUE who all of YOU are. I'm feeling a bit "attacked" at this point!

This "site" has already assured me there is no "guilt by association," but here I am again, being asked to further prove MYSELF, when I am not the person "on trial" here! This was my first and only dealing with John Turl. I do not KNOW the man in any way, whatsoever. And btw, he still has some snakes left but they are out of my price range.

The ONLY reason I have humored this matter to this degree thus far is because, who knows, one day, -I- might want to list some of my own animals here as available. I'm sure by THEN you will have satisfied yourselves as to who -I- am, and hopefully my own rating won't suffer this fate!!! Now, some other Q's today: "did I make the cashier's check out TO John Turl?" Yes, I did. I mailed it snail mail to the address he provided in email, along with his phone number. I can't vouch for the phone number. There were no shipping delays or problems with the animals when they arrived, so I had no need to call him.

And I'm sorry, but I'm NOT posting ANY one's phone number on a forum! Good grief! If some one posted mine here, I'd be having canaries and seeking legal action! We all know there are too many "nuts/loonie birds" in the world and I'm sure every one would be attempting to call! For those of you who do not provide your home phone number on your websites, I'm sure you can understand this! I do not have my phone number on my site. I am NOT a BUSINESS!

I do understand why you feel attacked. I also understand that John Turl has an ambiguous identity and reputation here at Fauna. Fauna's BOI serves a very unique and beneficial purpose to the herp community. Everyone loves when a puppy mill gets busted, and it makes the national news. Everyone loves to see an animal abuser get his/her just reward.
The herp industry largely goes unnoticed in the national spotlight unless they (the herps) present a problem - whether real or hyped by the media or an agency like PETA.
Reptiles/arachnids/insects just aren't quite as newsworthey or cuddly as puppies or kittens ... except to the herp enthusiast.

That's where the BOI comes in .. and serves an invaluable resource to news, information and everything in between in the herp industry. Which is why you, unfortunately, come under scrutiny ... because John Turl's name has already come up and there is a cloud of doubt over his reputation and validity.

Having checked it out, Pink Magazine is this:

It's an online site about successful business women, nothing less or degrading.
