In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hi. I am just wondering if anybody has any experiences with green desert reptiles and if so can they share? Thanks!

I bought a pair of Asian vine snakes from them that were purportedly captive bred, but they both died within a week- the female in 2 days and the male after about a week. I'd done research on the species and knew how to care for them. Green Desert Reptiles only refunded me for one of the two because they said they would only honor a 2-day guarantee. They did refund me, but I was not happy with the health of the snakes, nor was I happy with their customer service. I will not do business with them again. But since they refunded me I can't say they're bad guys; I just seriously doubt the snakes were actually captive bred.

I know you to be an honest woman, Kim. Therefore, I do not doubt any of what you just recounted. I to take issue with one thing.

If they are selling animals as captive bred, but the animals are unhealthy and both die within a week, and then they will only honor a 2 day health guarantee, they're bad guys....period. If you can't call them that, then I will!

I agree Mike. But they did refund me. I had been researching Asian vine snakes for 3 years and just wanted to find ones that were eating rodents and healthy. However, the female had scars on her upon close inspection when I got her home, and she died really quickly. The owner, Al, called me back less than 10 minutes after I emailed about her death, but when the male died, Al disappeared and all my dealings were with a Laura.

I guess refund me what you can. I didn't realize you only had a 2-day guarantee when I got them, but I should have asked. My Paypal address is [email protected] (it is a zero in it, not the letter "o"). I'm puzzled and none too happy..it isn't as though I knew nothing about the species or was unprepared when I got them home. I have been keeping snakes for over 6 years and successfully house chondros and emeralds. Every species is different, but I still don't think the male should have died had he been healthy when I got him.

hi Kimberly,

we're still puzzled as well. did you use bottled water?
our policy is 2 day live guarantee for a purchase. we usually offer a credit for the animal or a replacement, however it sounds like you're not having good luck with this species for some reason. I'd be happy to refund you $35. they are normally priced at $40ea.
let me know how you want to proceed. thanks, Laura

I paid $60 for the pair. They are both dead though, in the span of a week. They didn't have direct light, other than the overhead light in the room. The gradient is achieved in my room with radiant heat. So there is nothing you can do for the male, just a refund for the female? I just don't think the male should have died that quickly if it was something I did.

hi, sick kids, sorry.
we will be happy to refund your purchase price of female. do you recall what you paid? Al thought 2 for $60. he thinks the direct light may have something to do with it. ours seem to do well with a temp flux between 77 and 81F. sorry you had trouble with yours. I will need your paypal address or can mail a check either way you prefer. let me know. thanks, Laura

Hi, no one got back to me last night. Did you talk to Al yet? I spoke with him on the phone after my female died in two days. I'll be in and out all day, but should have my cell phone on me, if he or someone can get back to me today.

Hi Al,

I bought a pair of Asian vine snakes (A. nasuta and A. prasina) at the Reading show, and talked to you about the female dying a few days later.
I found my male vine snake dead on his back when I got home from work tonight. I know you were planning on sending a replacement for the female that died, but now that the male is also dead, I'm a bit concerned about keeping the species. I had temps in the mid-to-high 80s with a hot spot around 88 and night drop down to about 80. I misted twice daily and gave it a good soak with each mist. They had a large water dish and vines and perches to climb on. The male seemed active and curious, and was fine this morning when I left. I'm really bummed about them...I was really looking forward to having them. Please let me know what we can do.

This whole situation greatly saddened me. I'd met them at the Reading Reptile Show in November and talked to them for over an hour. They seemed to be nice guys; it's a shame it turned out this way. From now on I will not buy animals from anyone I don't know or one of my friends doesn't know. You live and learn, but it makes me sick whenever an animal dies like that.

Next time, don't accept cb as cb unles you have copulation and birth/oviposition/hatch pics.....especially with a species that is so rarely reproduced in captivity.

That's good advice, Mike. I will do that in the future...I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt more than I should. It really sucks when people continue to prove to me why I should not trust the general population.

I just wanna say I have bought mulitple snakes from them and have had no issues with anything purchased. They have been nothing but great as far as I am concerned. I plan to purchase more from them in the future.

my own dealings

i've been buying from al for a long time
never had a problem with anything i have gotten from him
i mean ive gotten all sorts of crotalids, elapids , and the occassional tortoise
al has always seemed to do great business with me on the animals i get from him.

planning on seeing him soon to get more animals from him soon
he always is able to get what i want so im going to go get more
also you really can beat his pricing
