In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

i was just at the havre de grace reptile show last weekend and my manager decided to be an idiot and play wit one of his lizards as i was driving. well it jumped off and escaped and after 3 hours of searching we never found it. a week later, the thing is dead and smells horribly. i have done a thorough search with no luck. any ideas? how long will the smell be here?
thanks

Poor Lizard....try running your { gloved} hand thoroughly under the seats....meaning the bottom of the actual seat. When people but from me at the shows I tell them NEVER open box in the car, that's what can happen.Try under the dash as well.

Unfortunately long after it has lost all of it's fluids. It is more than likely under the dash, (I have heard of similar escapees and lizard to snake ended up crawling up there and expiring) Short of finding it and cleaning the area where it died it is going to somewhat of a permanent fixture (especially during the warmer months). :ack2:

Back in 1993 I had a five gallon bucket with some mice in it sitting on the floor of my truck. I had the lid off so they could get some air. The bucket had stucco or something on the inside and I never thought the mice could climb up and get out. It was night time so it was dark, all of the sudden I feel something run accross my foot. So I turned on the dome light and to my suprise, mice all over the place. I never found them all, so you can guess what happened. The smell lasted for over a week. Now that it is summer, leave your windows down, it will help dry it out faster, and air it out. I would drive with the a/c on and the windows down. After the animal dries up the smell will go away. It's a bummer, but they say, crap happens. Good luck.

I'm so sorry you lost your little one!!

One the positive side, to get rid of the stench, stick a couple of the Renuzit Super Odor Killer gel deodorizers in your car. That should take care of it-or go to an auto part shop and buy a can of Ozium deodorizer. We used to use that to cover to smell of weed in our cars...way back in the Stone-Age.

i dont even mind if it takes a few weeks for the smell to go away, i just want to make sure that it isnt there forever... its in my moms car and i dont get my car back until i get the smell out of there.

Sorry about your loss.

That is the second time in two weeks someone in MD had a dragon die in the car. Someone at the repticon show in baltimore, bought a dragon put it in his car and came back into the show for another few hours. and then went to the car and low and behold it wasnt alive...

Definitely look under the dash. A couple years ago, I noticed a "dead thang" smell inside my car, but nothing live had gotten loose. After a couple days I couldn't take it anymore, so started searching. Found a small Ringneck snake dead up under the dash.

And that wasn't the first animal, either! The summer before that I found a small frog or toad under the back floor mat that must have been there several days (with no odor; I could never figure that out), as it was like petrified and flat!

Silly Donna ... weeds don't smell :D

I bet On a lighter note that if Jeffery Dahmer would have writin a Tell All Book on this subject of how to get the smell of rotting flesh "Out" would have been a best Seller!
Ba Bump Bump! Thank you Thank you Very Much!

If it was small look under the seats and the rug. I lost one once on my way to one of my buyers. Some one cut me off on the freeway and i slammed on the brakes. The tubs slid forward and hit the dash, the lid came off and i caught all but one. When i got home i dismantled the seats and their he was curled up under the carpet. They can get in between the holes the manufacture cuts in the carpet to slid the brackets through.

I kept that little guy named him scape.

just as an update I FOUND THE LIZARD
it was dead, obviously, in the back in the metal track that bolts the back seat down. luckily it didnt leak fluids on the carpet so i just dipped the section in bleach, scrubbed it, and hopefully the smell will be totally gone in a few days
