In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Anyone delt with Reptile Haven and Exotic Birds?

I think they are in San Diego.

Thanks

I purchased a reptarium from them over a year ago... Got it off one of their Ebay auctions for a smokin deal (half the price anyone else had them advertised for). Price was awesome, but their customer service was SLOW. I recieved a tracking number the day the reptarium was supposed to arrive. It was accidentally delivered to the wrong address, so I emailed them to ask for confirmation of the address they sent it to. A kind neighbor brought the reptarium over to my house a few days later, but I never heard anything from Reptile Haven. I'm not sure what their policy on shipping is, but I got the impression that once it left their facility, it was my problem.

I also inquired about their $19 adult Uromastyx, which are/were advertised on their website... They told me they haven't had any at that price for a long time, but they had some babies they would sell to me for somewhere around $75...

I've also bought Reptariums from them for great prices, but their customer service is slow. I had to call them a couple of times to get them on the ball.

Not to be confused with....

Reptilehaven.net which does have a bird forum!

This one caught my eye due to the name of the inquired upon!

I've ordered supplies several times from Reptile Haven (mostly Vivarium back issues and Hovabator incubators. I always received my orders in a timely fashion and they were packaged well. I did not experience the customer service problems that others described and I would do business with them again. (My last order from them was about a year ago.)
I've never purchased animals through them.

Well, the storefront location is actually in Oceanside but when I called just the other day about cages they had on the web site they said that they were just a few days away from "the move" and were currently out of stock on the ones I inquired. I didn't ask where they were moving to at the time.

Reptile Haven has been in business for a very long time that I know of and was located in Escondido when I first found them. I do not know the owners of the store at all but have figured out that they must have some very good connections as they have always had unusual and hard to find species in the store in addition to the more common types. I have never purchased an animal from them, but supplies from time to time.

I'm thinking the owner must be an eccentric collector as they have wonderful artifacts of many different kinds..... you just never know what's going to be in the shop and available when you go to visit. The animals have always appeared healthy to me from their general appearance and they DO know their animals and husbandry requirements very well.

Now.... I'm not surprised to hear that they are a bit inefficient at keeping up with customer service and internet email... lol, I've never seen their shop not full of people asking all kinds of questions. Frankly, with all that is there in that location I'm surprised he's able to keep up at all!!

If I was in the market for any of their exotic birds I'd be very willing to purchase there. I'd really love a hyacinth macaw one day..... don't know that I could listen to one. LOL, one of the things I like about my snakes is the peace and quiet they share.

Thanks to all who have replied to this inquiry, much appreciated

I would recommend everyone to do business with Reptile Haven. I have done business with Reptile Haven and Chris Estep (the owner) for almost 3 years. They are 1.5 hours away from my house, so I drive there almost once every month. Chris is very helpful, pleasant to do business with, and he is also honest. From now until mid of June, they are in the process of moving to downtown San Diego (further from my home), so he's kind of busy. He has two guys but they are mainly help out in the store. Internet business is handle by Chris himself. It would be better to call him instead of email him, since he's not online that often (I think he hasn't update his website for years)
It's true that you can get smoking deal with them. I have bought several animals from them with wholesale price. Their animals are also well taken care of. Chris changed his cages as well as racks in order to give the animals optimum husbandry, easy for him and his employee to maintain, and convenience for the buyers to view the animals (I really like his racks with glass containers) He also concern more on the animals and customers more than his business. I witnessed he once refused to sell a reticulate python (approx 4 feet) to a teenager, who was interested in purchasing the snake just because he can get it from Chris for $75.00 instead of $150.00 from the store a couple block down the street but doesn't know about the fact that retic. can grow big and can be aggressive. In regard of the adult Uromastyx, a year and half ago I saw they had a bunch of them for that rock bottom price of $19.00 (I was so tempted to buy some at that time, but I was into boa and ball). Those have been sold out. I think he just have the cb baby (my last time there was about 3 weeks ago).
