In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Can anyone help in New York?.

Hi all, my name is Colin and I live in Staffordshire, England, U.K.
On Monday, 6th Sept. my wife and I will be going to New York just for the week, It's our 25th Wedding Anniversary, my question to you all is, "I keep Panther Chameleons, can anyone recomend a reptile shop, stall, etc.. my wife and I can visit while in New York?". We will be staying near the "Rockafellow Centre?", I think it's called. The hotel is the "MUSE", near to the theatre land, also near "Time Square"?. I would be very pleased to receive any e-mails from you American guys/gals out there. To visit a reptile place while there would make my stay in New York.

CHEERS, AND THANKYOU TO ALL WHO E-MAIL/MESSAGE ME,

Regards,

Chameleon Col.

I was actually just about to ask the same question...

I'm driving down to NYC this coming week to help a friend check out grad schools, and figured I'd see about picking up something while I'm there (provided I can find something).

Let me know if anyone knows of any decent herp places around the city, or possibly any ball or hognose breeders...

NYC Health Code prohibits the sale and possession of many reptiles, including ALL boas, pythons, and mid or rear fanged colubrids...as well as iguanas, tegus, and monitors (the list includes many warm blooded animals, as well). Sorry to bust any bubbles, but any reptile place within the 5 Boroughs would be limited accordingly. If you are open to venturing out of the City, you might have some luck in Long Island or in some of the surrounding counties.
Sorry i can't be of more help and actually recommend a place to you. To the OP, the New York Metro Reptile Expo is in White Plains on Sunday, September 12. Lots to see there, and it isn't a bad trip from NYC. Depending on your departure plans, it may be worth a look. www.reptileexpo.com

Good to know Harald... I suppose I should have assumed as much as far as legality goes... perhaps I'll find a place to stop on the drive back...

Thankyou "hhmoore", glad someone can reply to me:) I thought everyone was ignoring me, re-U.K. member:) hahaha...(only kidding!)
Your info. was much appreciated "hhmoore".
I know I would'nt be able to bring back Chams. on my flight back to the U.K. anyhow, I was just hoping to see a few out there. I'll prob.just end up buying a good book for a memento of my stay/Anniversary in New York.
THANKYOU ALL, :)

Regards, Col.

The only place I'd recommend making a special trip in your itinerary for ( not including breeders since I dont know any personally ) is the White Plains show mentioned above. As for legality, when did ball pythons become included on the illegal list? I was pretty sure they were still legal and only the larger snakes ( retics, burmese, African Rocks ) were illegal.

Thanx "bigjej" for your info. much appreciated mate. I don't know nothing about snakes mate, so I can't comment about anything to do with them, have enough probs. getting Chams. in to the U.K. :-(

Sorry to say but there are no reptile shops in NYC. But i can recommend that you take the subway (thats our Underground) up to Bronx Zoo. It has an amazing collection and after a week of staying in Times Square , those will be the only animals that you will appreciate during your stay. Cheers!

Thankyou for the info. Lon,(bwt501) "Your a star mate", much appreciated. What's the weather like in New York this time of the year? is it like the U.K. pouring down rain? but hey, I've never been to the States, so who cares, hehehe... Our hotel is next door to an Irish bar, so will def. be going in there. I LOVE THE IRISH, GREAT PEOPLE, and I love the rebel folk music, (mom's Irish blood) So come rain, sunshine, It's going to be great. I've heard all about how good your burgers are in the States :) much bigger, and better than our's in England, with a pint of Guinness, I CAN'T WAIT :):)

The weather right now is in the mid 90's. But there is a hurricane headed up the east coast that they think may hit here Friday with alot of wind & rain. Expected temp this weekend after the storm is supposed to be in the upper 70's low 80's.
& yes kingsnakes are considered colubrids. There are pet stores, but as stated before you will find hardly any species due to the laws & what you will find will most likely be cared for improperly. The zoo will be your best bet.

Hi ya John, Thankyou for your info. ye, I've seen on our news re-the hurricane that's heading your way, take care mate, hope all o.k. and you don't get the eye of the storm??..
We in the U.K. are lucky that we don't get extreme bad weather that often, not like your's anyhow. Do you think the storm will be gone by Monday? that's when we fly from the U.K. at 5a.m. our time. I can't wait to get to New York, my wife or I have never been to the States. We are near to "Times square" the MUSE HOTEL,(next to Irish bar:)
I want to go to see Central Park, John Lennon's memorial, I was and still am a big fan of his. (Best thing that ever come from Liverpool) Well! thanx again John, please friend my request, and we'll have a good old chin wag soon, CHEERS MATE,

Regards, Col.
