    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hola. I have a Zilla Heat Mat, medium size (30-40 gallon, 8x12, 16 Watt).

My enclosure is a custom built wooden enclosure, "painted" white (its not paint, but you know, a sort a coating?)

I have had this enclosure since it was built about 7 years ago. It housed my colombian red tail boa no problem. Today i just bought a Spotted Python.

The temp looks fine without the mat, however i know soon i will need another heat source.

My question: I know that the Mat directions say do not use with wooden enclosures (aka "glass only")...But i wanted to ask if there is a safe way for me to use it on/in my wooden enclosure?

Depending on how thick it is, you could put it directly underneath. But if the cage is 1/2" or greater (which it likely is) then it would work awfully hard to transfer the heat through the wood.

I'm unfamiliar with Zilla's heat mats, but if they are a laminated & sealed unit like the ultra therms, then they are safe for inside the cage as well. A little water ain't going to do the ultra therms any harm, and they can be cleaned off easy enough.

Hope that helps.

Thanks.

I managed to scrounge up extra newspaper and a few objects, and now i have the enclosure supported with that stuff, as well as the heat pad pressed up against it. He/She now has a warm hide.
