Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them.     Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I built a rack system using pre fab shelving. Since I don't have a tool to make a indention in the wood for the heat tape to sit recessed, can I cover the entire heat with the aluminum tape so the tubs wont actually touch the tape when sliding over it? Will this still allow the heat tape to transfer the heat on the bottom of the tub?
 
Yes it will. I have my flexwatt just on top of my shelves. I have it taped down like you are describing with no problems.
 
Mine is foil taped to the top of the shelf as well. Make sure you use insulators or electrical tape on your connections so no current is transferred from connectors to the foil tape.
 
Great I appreciiate the replies. I got Rich from Reptile Basics to make the connections so I am good there.
