    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Can someone recommend a heater ?

Hello all,
I just got done building a reptile room in one corner of my basement, the dimentions are 13'x 6'x 6'.
I insulated it real good, and now Im looking into heaters.
What are the best type of heaters to use, to heat a room like this.
thanks Bob

My room is not that large (maybe 8x10?) for the past year I've been using a DeLonghi Portable Oil Filled Radiator with great success. I picked mine up for about $70 at Target. One of the best snake room purchases I've made besides a temp gun! I also have an electric portable heater that I used to use (with ceramic plates) but I've found a more even heating and lower bill since switching to the oil filled radiator. The one I use does not have a temp setting but rather a dial 1-10 and low/high setting, so I do fiddle with it twice a year when the seasons change. (I could not find one with an actual temp setting that wasn't also on a timer. I run mine 24/7) Good luck!

April - you can run that thing through a Johnson Controls A-419, and not have to screw with it anymore. Granted, the room in my old house was probably subject to a wider range of temp swings than where you are (me being in the "great northeast"), but that combination has worked well for me for years.

that's a great idea and something I was wondering about but wasn't sure how well it would work hooked up to a thermostat. I'll deff. give this a shot, thanks Harald

Hey rob these are the ones i use if you go end of winter they are very cheap lol but still now not to bad priced. They keep heating cost down cause they heat up fast and keep temp steady thus bringing down the need for higher priced heaters and saving energy cause they do not run long. check it out hope this helps also as hhmoore said you can run with a helix or johnson.

and if you want more control over the temp and adjustments this is a good one too i use both.
