Ok so here is the deal.... I made a BIG mistake by even going to the local reptile show, not only did I never hear of snake mites, but I bought a snake that looked bad to get it out of the hands of a breeder. Anyways, I traded my fully healthy, mite free corn snake of which he put in the same cage as the ball python. The ball python had stuck shed all over him & that wasnt a big deal I was ready to take care of it, however I didnt know he was severely infested with mites. They were everywhere on him... poor guy. Soaked in his water bowl for 3-4 hours a day even going under water for minutes on end. Needless to say I only had him in the tank for 3 days before getting rid of him to someone who had dealt with mites before. I took all furnishings out... bleached them.. let them dry and rinsed them off. Removed all substrate for a week... proventmited 3 times during that week... put in new substrate. Baked the wood at the time at 200 for 3 hours... put everything back and sprayed proventamite again on everything and let it air out. Im planning on getting a new snake soon... have I done everything correctly or anything else I need to do. I did buy a bottle of Reptile Relief to spray on the new snake as a precaution when it gets here just to be sure. I do NOT want this mess again. Thanks everyone for your help!
