In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I have been trying to find out if this show is worth my while to travel 5 hours each way. I have only received responses from 2 persons, one negative, and one just directing me to the show's website. I have contacted a few of the vendors listed as going to be there, and none have even responded as to whether they will be there or not (I could get a complex&#33. Could anyone give me their opinion, "Is it worth my while to travel 5 hours each way to attend the White Plains Reptile Show?" What I will be looking for is:

Argentine Horned frogs
Rosy Boa pairs
Kenyon Sand Boa pairs
1.0 Reduced pattern ball python
1.0 Argentine Boa
House snakes
0.1 Western Hognose

Any opinions as to whether it would be worthwhile for me to spend my whole Sunday going to this show would be appreciated!

Thanks, Bryan

well, I personally think its a good show...
I've been doing it as a vendor for years ... this weekend is upstairs which is much nicer than the basement... you should be able to find all the animals you listed.. I'll have rosys myself.... I'd guess the normal attendence is around 1500+ people....
probably close to 200 vendor tables...

Bryan-
I have attended this show a few times and have always been pleased. When it is held upstairs it is 200x better than down in the dungeon, much more room to move around and you don't find yourself trapped in the middle of a large swarm of people. I have found it worth my while to travel 1 1/2-2 hours each way. I guess it kinda depends on what exactly you are looking for and the time you arrive....based on what you have posted I can imagine you will be able to locate the animals you are looking for. I'd take a guess that Regal and/or NERD will most likely have some of what you are looking for. It might be worthwhile to contact some of the vendors in advance to determine what they will have available...otherwise you might find yourself going home disappointed. Unfortunately not every vendor who attends is listed on the website but a good majority of them are listed. Hope this helps!

I'll be going Sunday to have a look around. I went to the show last April and was a little surprised at the number of people there. I hadn't kept any snakes for about fifteen years. I'll make it a point to get there early this year. I like being able to see the animals and talk to the vendors if the opportunity arises. I went there looking for eastern kings and found only two. I bought one from Regal. As for the specific animals you mentioned I couldn't say. I'd say a good percentage of the morphs out there today didn't exist fifteen years ago and at times I had no clue as to what I was looking at. Sorry I can't help more. I'm only 35 minutes away so it's not a big deal.

Depending on where you are coming from you can really increase your herp fun this weekend, but it will require an overnighter. What I am getting at is there is a show at Hamburg, PA this Saturday followed by the White Plains show on Sunday. My guess is that it would be about a three hour drive from Hamburg to White Plains. If you are coming west of NY City (not west of Buffalo) then it is on the way to NY. Hamburg is located not too far west of Allentown, PA. If you are coming from around Wash, DC then it can also be on the way. If on the other hand you are coming from Maine it would add another 3 hours drive time.

The show at Hamburg, The Northern Berks Reptile Show (this is the correct name) is a good one that sells everything, even venomous. Well they sell everything except native PA species as per state law. Always good deals. If I can get away on Saturday, I am going there too, about a three hour drive for me.

The White Plains show is probably the best show around the NYC area (as long as it is in the upstairs room and this one will be there). There are always lots of vendors and societies there, and you can get some good deals.

I will probably be at the White Plains show at the Long Island Herpetological Society's table. Look me up if you decide to drive the 5 hours. Hopefully you will think it was worth it. If I make it to the show (I am still fighting the flu) and you stop by the table and show me photo ID with your name as it appears on this board, I'll give you a telescoping pocket snake hook on the house (as long as I still have any). Just ask for Glenn Bartley.

By the way, the furthest I have ever driven just for a herp show was to Timonium, MD near Baltimore, about 4 hours - that was a great show.

Glenn
