In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

How many would pay extra to ship snakes legally door to door?

I have a source to ship door to door overnight legally, but it will likely be costly.

I need to know if there is any interest in this service, and I would appreciate some sample shipments so I can get more accurate quotes.

Its expensive, but i'm sure for people selling/buying thousands of dollars worth of animals it could be worth it to ship door to door legally.

Give me a sample shipment- dimensions, weight, source, and destination, as well as insured value. Let me know how frequently you'd be using this service.

I will get quotes and then report back.

One box, 12x12x9 inches, 16 lbs, from Las Vegas to Chicago
inside is one large common boa

One box 9x9x9 inches, 3 lbs, from Las Vegas to Newark,
inside are 6 hatchling kingsnakes

try these, let's see what the prices come to. Thanks

Anything.

But please realise that I am talking about pricing greater than delta dash. The company would be utilizing one of the airlines.

This service would basically be a convenience for those unable or unwilling to travel directly to the airport for either dropoff or pickup.

Don't be coy! More info!
I probably wouldn't use it personally, unless the price difference was less than the gas it takes me to drive 30-40 minutes to the airport each way. Or if I was really busy that week. But I'd certainly love to make it available to any customers I might have in the future.
On a side note, I'm lucky enough to be 'down' with my local UPS guy, but that doesn't mean I'll never have problems. Airline shipping may quickly become everyone's only option!

You will see most of the major door to door shippers allowing snakes and all reptiles on a Limited Basis very soon... Most of them are already working with some of the larger Companies and testing the waters... This will be a good thing for the reptile industry and better business for the shipping companies... They will soon be fighting for your business with competitive rates... Proper packaging will be a must of course...

Alfredo, that is great news! Please keep us updated, I would love to see readily available options.

Background info on my plan... my father is in this field, working at various levels for a number of air/sea/freight companies over the years. I have to admit that I was never a good son, however recently we have begun seeing eachother with frequency and a discussion of shipping herps came up over the past weekend. He stated that his company would accept live shipments, but it would likely be pricey for most shippers that weren't filling nearly an entire skid.

Just wanted to point out...

Let's all remember that "company policy" is not a written law, thus the term "shipping illegally" would not pertain to utilizing any of those carriers. I've been around and round on this whole shipping fiasco, and I have found Delta-Dash and UPS Next-Day to accept all of my shipments with zero problems. All visibly marked "Live Harmless Reptiles" and I to have heard some carriers will be changing their "snake" policy soon.

Steven, I gave you some measurments and weights. Could you please respond and let me know the prices please. These box sizes will give me an idea of how much my average shipping will run under your source. Thanks

Details please

Door to Door, up front, live reptiles? Sounds great and I would consider paying extra, whether shipping or receiving.

Questions:
Same service options (1day, 2day, etc.)?
Tracking?
Claims for dead livestock if they drop the ball?

Thanks for any info...

They never have covered live animals even if they mess up... None of the shippers...Only delta dash covers death due to their errors if insured and beleive you me its not easy to get a claim settled

ok...

You say..

"They never have covered live animals even if they mess up... None of the shippers...Only delta dash covers death due to their errors if insured and beleive you me its not easy to get a claim settled."

If that is true, and I know you have a lot more experience wiith this than me, then just the act of them allowing the shipments of non-venemous herps is only 1/2 the answer.

Consider that if I order 500.00 worth of prime meat and live lobster for a dinner and one of these carriers delivers it to me a day late and ruined the carrier is liable for the shipment and the freight charges. Many times this is worked out via a claim by the vendor, but there is no question that they are liable for the value of the shipment on perishable items.

Yes, it will be nice not to hassle with UPS or FedEx or whoever over the box contents, but if they will still accept no responsibility at all for the contents there's still a big problem.

I haven't talked specifically about claims, but my guess is this- since the company will be utlizing one of the airlines, in addition to their own trucks, they will likely provide refunds if the shipment is delayed an unreasonable length of time. Remember, they have no control over a delayed flight.

Ken, I will gladly get a quote for you. I was hoping to have a little more to go on before I spoke with my father again this weekend (he was away on a business trip this week, forgive me)

Steven, no problem, and no hurry. I was just wanting to use those dimensions as a comparison as to what I pay at this time using various carriers. Take as much time as needed, I'm not going anywhere fast. Take care
