Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them.     Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hi, one of my kingsnakes escaped and I am needing advice on locating him.He escaped last week and we found him and thought we secured his cage good enough. his is the only times I have had a lost snake and need advice. He has been gone about an hr.

i once lost a ball python. it was in the living room so we kept the door to the hallway locked shut and the space under the door was so narrow i thought no way that snake could get through there.
about a month later i hear my daughter laughing and screaming for me to come and see something. the snake had decided to come out for a moment for air i guess..
she was in a bag of old clothes in my daughters closet.
somehow she had snuck under that narrow crack in hallway door all the way into kids room and into a bag of clothes.
good luck sasha..i know its disturbing to lose a pet and have no idea where it is or if its even ok.
 
My lost snakes have usually been found by sheer luck, that is when found. Some have never shown up again. To increase the odds of finding a lost snake you can place heat mats on the floor (not directly on carpeting but on something that will take the high heat). Place hide boxes out too. You may even want to put a dead mouse into one or more of those hide boxes and check regularly. Change the mice after no more than three days, they do get pretty stinky.

Mostly though, keep your eyes open and hope for the best. I have found lost snakes up to 8 months later, apparently well hydrated and well fed. Good luck <img src="http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>
 
Skagzoo, I hope you have found your snake by now. If not, try a sticky trap with a mouse on it. if your snake gets on it, just rub it with vegetable oil and it'll come right off. Thank you for all of your replys. Unfortunately the little bugger is still running arond somewhere. I just hope he is still in the house. I am trying all of your suggestions and will keep trying them a little longer.He is such a nice snake and good breeder I really hate to lose him. On the plus side at least one of my females are definately pregnant by him and possibly the second. Maybe I will be able to trade some offsping to someone else to get another male. That way it will also keep the bloodlines strong. I will let you know if he turns up.

check in the odd places...under appliances, under bookshelves, linen closet, stuff like that. I feel for ya...I lost an albino ruthvens in my old apartment (still kicking myself for that) and I have a yearling anery corn on the loose that one of my cats helped escape. Given that it's breeding season, food might not be the greatest attractant at the moment, but try water and a heat pad.

I lost a 50/50 cal. king and found him after 6 months at the bar next door....I found sheds twice and he made threw winter!!!!  So check all the local Beer Gardens!!!
 
Luckily I do not have a bar next door. I am just waiting for my neighbors to scream bloody murder, then I will know where he is. Oh, and that old saying if it were a snake it would have bit you, I only wish. At least I would know where he was, even it it was attached to the end of my toe.

I found him. He was in a kitchen cabinet. I looked there the other day so evidentally he did some traveling.

Had one of my albino black rats escape last week. Just found her in a pitcher of water I left out after watering the other snakes. I was however, fortunate enough to get it back in the cage without my wife seeing it loose. :)
