In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I feel embarrassed to ask these things because i come from experience....but everyone needs help. PLEASE READ ENTIRE MESSAGE BEFORE ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS ARE FORMULATED (THANK YOU).

1) I keep Rhacs and have had a couple pass away due to what I feel were
bad sheds. Im the baby-early juvie "room" that they are kept in, the temp.
stays between 72-76 degrees at all times (including nights) and has an
approx. humidity range of between 50%-70%, which is lower than what I
have adults kept at. They are separated by clutches in small (not x-small)
Kritter Keepers on a shelving rack and are misted x2 daily. Larger geckos/juvies kept in x-large Kritter Keepers BTW.

2) I had recently been keeping and breeding with a female which had successful babies, but after 2-3 months all of her babies just sorta got weak and thin and would not eat. ONE baby from ONE of her pairings, however, is one of my healthies gecko babies (juvie now) that I have kept and a great eater. I feed all babies Crested Gecko Diet as well as a fruit puree (once a month) and most love the diet.

3) Humidity for the room- I have come up with these ideas: Heat tape/thermostat, heat light(s), humidifier......but my room is small and supsepable to mold and my wife and I are afraid to go overboard. Not to mention there is wooden shelving above where the humidity would have to be and that is a big "mold magnet" too.

4) I HAVE QUESTIONS....AND AM ASKING OPPINIONS (READ NEXT POST PLEASE).

THE QUESTIONS:

1) any ideas on how to create a more humid living area for my babies/early juvies (without the risk of mold)?
OR- Do you even thing theres a lack of humidity?

2) feelings on my temp./humidity in the room? (any info on how to rectify any problems would be helpful too)

3) With the bad female- Do you feel that the deaths of her offspring had to do with genetics?
Do you feel it had to do with something else (explain please)?

4)Will shed-ease/"gecko sauna" help with the situation with longer than normal sheds? (any other ideas to help?)

5) Feelings on the diet I am providing?

PLEASE BE HONEST AND FRANK AND TELL ME WHATS ON YOUR MIND (BUT PLEASE NO UNNECESSARY CRITISIZM OR BASHING/MEAN PEOPLE). I WANT WHATS BEST FOR MY ANIMALS AND AM DOING GREAT WITH 99%....BUT JUST NEED SOME EXTRA ADVICE. PLEASE HELP. THANK YOU!

1)what type of Rhac's are they ?

2)Doesnt seem to be a need for more humidity maybe just some humidity control, you say you keep your juvies in small KK's. Great ,i do the same i'm not a fan of the bins & shoeboxes.A good way to keep humidity in those is to put wet/damp paper towels on the lid after spraying them especially at night.Be sure not to completely cover every hole as to not cut off all air flow just the part facing up.

3) have you ever wormed your female? You might have a parasite issue going on.Matt Parks over at Pangea sell Flagyl which can be mixed and givin orally to treat reptiles for worms.

4)Sauna's can't really ever hurt if done in a proper manner , remebmer never to walk away from a gecko in a sauna.Moments could be the difference in a living gecko & not. JB's cresties has plenty of video's on the proper sauna techniques.

5) I would lessen the amount of pureed fruit you give them , maybe atleast until the problem subsides. You never know what exactly is used in the cultivation of the fruit even when it is organic.stick with CGD & a weekly or bi weekly couple of dusted(ICB) crickets or roaches.should get them back on track.

Other than that sounds like your just learning.Unfortunately ,if you breed any types of animals , you will more likely become familiar with the simple nature of some things just not surviving.Kind of like the earths way of population control. There are plenty groups and forums that are more species specific like Repashy Forums, Pangea and we also have a group on Facebook called "The Perfect Rhac" feel free to join.

Rick,
Thank you greatly for your quick response and advise. I will hope to get more responses on this post, as the more info/knowlege from people the better, but I feel that you have helped. I will keep in mind your advise about wet paper towels on the top of the KK's and also about the pureed fruit. The fruit serves as a "treat" more or less, but I do agree with your logic so I will take the advise.
As far as still learning..... I have done different species for the majority of my years on this earth (off and on), but have just started taking it seriously and to "the next level for the past maybe 2 years. I am studying to become a wildlife biologist specializing in herpetology and pride myself in the success i have accomplished....BUT, that being said.....even all of that doesn't make it so that god's plan is inevitable for my animals (like you said) and I love that you said that. We are always constantly learning, no matter how much knowlege and I love that you have that outlook too.

As far as the female in question goes....I never got her treated for worms, but she has already passed (I suspect Cryptosporidia). We tried to quarantine her and gave her the best care we could, but she did not hold on. It may be for the best...but still sad. For the most part, I am doing great in my endeavors and so I suppose i will just keep trying to learn more and more and treat advice as gold. Thanks again and message/talk to me whenever you would like!

I kept my babies in breeder racks with heat tape down the back controled by a themostat...no higher then 78 in back 72 to 73 in front. Use paper towels as bedding and would make sure the animal, keep them seperately, have fresh water. I agree cut out the puree food and stick to the crested food diet by repashy. Also dusted small crickets. just enough for them to eat. Take excess out. They need it damp but also need a dry spot otherwise you will lose them. I did! Any questions let me know.. Good luck!
