• Responding to email notices you receive.
    **************************************************
    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

This is Zippy, my new Indian Star Tortoise. I bought her at the Tampa show, from a really nice guy. She has the same birthday as me except she's a bit younger 9-19-01 (but I might be wrong she might be an 02 baby). I call her a she but my husband thinks she's a he. I dunno.

She got a small respitory infection on the drive back home to WI. We kept moving her in and out of the car into hotel rooms so it's understandable. I am almost 100% sure it's cleared up now. We kept her pretty warm and dry and were lucky enough not to need to take her to the vet. She's active and eating a lot!

There are quite a few different opinions on what to feed these guys. So I feed them a mix of green which are low in Oxalic Acid and tannins (no brocolli, cabbage, or spinach). And I feed her a little bit of squash once in a while, and I may feed her a piece of grape when I think she may like a treat.

I had her on a soil/dirt mixture but she got filthy (go figure). So she's on shredded aspen right now. I like the look of it and it's easy for her to manuver.

Other than that she has her hide and shallow dish and heating lamp. Her tub is slightly clear so I catch her looking at the hamsters once in a while which are next to her.

She's a doll. I just love her little bobbing head and the way she goes where she pleases. Plus none of my friends are scared of her, and my mom actually likes her. That and she won't get too big.

If anyone has sugguestions on feeding or substrate let me know, I welcome anything.

Here are some pics I took today. Sorry for the slight fuzziness, crappy digicam. After Christmas I may just have to infest in a new one.
