• Responding to email notices you receive.
    **************************************************
    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    Addendum: 01/10/2026
    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Sorta... it's not really all *that* bad, but I needed to get attention.

I was reccently elected to be the newsletter editor for the Southern Nevada Herpetological Society, a position I was more than happy to have, because I'm a long winded, strong opinioned type and enjoy writing things... Got elected last Friday.

Got told Wednesday that I should have the first newsletter ready to go to print by this coming Saturday.

There are already a few things written up and I could probably fill the space left over with more things I've written myself, but I think the society deserves a bit better than the Seamus Haley Rant Report (they're going to be stuck with enough of that as it is, MWUHAHAHAHA!) so I'm actively seeking submissions.

If anyone has something they have written up or would like to write anything and could get it to me in the next day and a half or so, I'd greatly appreciate it (and the rest of the SNHS would too). Captive care articles, breeding strategies, genetic primers, editorials about herp related subjects, field herping notes (the Southwest United States specially emphasized of course), stories and antecdotes about herping... Submit it!

Now the fun stuff "The Southern Nevada Herpetological Society retains the rights to use, in whole or in part, any material submitted at any time including but not limited to; future reprints or web publishing. The authors retain ownership of the material (meaning it's not now exclusive SNHS property) and will always be credited with such for any and all submissions." pretty much... If you send it to me, I can reprint it as many times as I want, you always get credit. Anything submitted will be spellchecked of course, any editing above and beyond the grammatical stuff (like article length), I'd get the author's permission before publishing any edits (meaning I won't butcher what you write and blame you anyway).

Anyone who has a submission published gets a free copy of the SNHS newsletter "The Rattler" and, of course, my personal thanks for their help.

I have no idea what volume, if any, response this will net me so if I get overloaded, I can't promise everything will get published but I can promise that I'll hang onto articles I am unable to use and heavily consider them for future newsletters.

Any contributions can be sent to [email protected] and thanks in advance to anyone who feels like helping out,
-Seamus
