View Full Version : Crossing a Ruthvin's with something?

I have a pair of Ruthvin's, but I think the male is too small to breed.  All my other snakes have laid, but the Ruthvin's has not.  I tried putting one of my proven male CalKings in with her, but he immediatly grabbed her by the head and tried to eat her.  How does one cross one type of kingsnake with another?  Also, I am attempting the second breeding of my Kings and Corns.  How long should I leave the males in with the females this time?

Thanks, Mike Blackston

not sure if crossbreeding kings would work the same, but I know the ole bait n switch can help when trying for jungle corns. Some just don't care...sex is sex. Kings tend to grab on while they breed, I have a corn that likes to hold onto his ladies too. As far as how long to keep em together, you'll know within 10 minutes if both parties are interested and cooperating. I tend to leave my corns paired up overnight if not longer, but always watch the milks and kings so that no one becomes dinner.
