In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I was wondering if anybody out there had an adult Ball Python that ate 50% of its own weight in rats EVERY week.

I was just curious because of an ad I just seen.

1590grams, CBB female on a diet of 3)250gm rats per week.

Right now I'm lucky if I can get them to eat 10% of their body wieght a month!

As a norm though? No, I don't. I only have one "Adult" female. She weighs 2675 grams, and she usually takes 2 rats in the 200-250 gram range per week. I have SEVERAL younder balls growing very fast, really packing the feed in.......but no~ they can't eat 50% of their body weight in one feeding either.

Could be I've just never seen it...but you asked........and no, I've not seen that occur at all.

I think its a crock to be quite honest, the seller either made an error while placing the ad or he is not being honest.

I just wanted to see if any other Regius breeder/keeper has EVER had an animal eat that much in 1 week.

Al,
I seen that add also.I have some of my snakes that I am sure would eat that much but I dont feed them that heavy.I have a few Ball pythons that would eat everyday if you let them and then others that are happy every 5 days with a meal. When I feed later today I will take some weights as to what they are eating but I dont see myself feeding them 50% of there body weight. And I am noway trying to say that the snake in that add couldnt eat that much...lol..

Well I just got done feeding and.My het pied is 523 grams and I feed her a 83 gram rat and she has a very large lump in her.I also feed another one of my 500 gram girls a 92 gram rat and she was stuffed.

So if that snake is eating 750 grams of rat I would say she is one stuffed snake I would be scared as hell to feed one of my snakes that much. But thats just my 2 cents worth...lol

I have 2 females that comes close. Last weigh in (empty) was 1297g, her last meal before going off feed was 504g. Her typical meal is about 400-450g.

Second female last weighed in at 860g (empty) and took down a just over 500g rat.

This is not something I make a "regular" practice of though. Nor could I see them eating 50% of their body weight every week (though sometimes I really wish they would ;) ).
