Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. The first surviving albino bearded dragons have hatched and are thriving at 2 weeks old. There are 4 of them with 8 normal looking siblings. Click the link below to read the story and see more pictures of them.

Albino Bearded Dragons

I am so excited about these as they are in good caring hands and not the product of inbreeding to produce them.

If you read the story, I do not own them. They are in someone else's care, in Australia and as such, can not be sent out of the country at this time.

There were some albino bearded dragons hatched 2 or 3 years ago, also in Australia. Maybe from the same parents? Here is a copy/paste from the thread on kingsnake:

Posted Jan 05, 2002-
***These dragons were produced by a guy in australia 1 or 2 years ago. Since he lives in australia he kept them in outside pens. This summer an over enthusiastic neighbor apparently used too much pesticide and the overflow killed most of his stock. He still has the parents, and I think there was 12 or 15 total albino babies. He is going to be breeding the parents again next summer. I can't remember his name, but I'll try to look it up. ***

I believe someone wanted to know about my Albino babies. I have ten in total so far. One from the first clutch this season, nine from the second clutch. I still have one more clutch to hatch.
The parents of these babies were 3rd generation yellows that hatched very pale indeed. No yellow at all. So I kept a few and raised them. The result being these beautiful albinos, right down to the pink eyes.

The oldest one is now about 6 weeks, the other 9 are about 2 weeks. So far they are all doing fine. I am using an old Reptisun 5% tube to give them UVB. Hopefully, being an old tube it will not damage their eyes.

I did not mention before that I do live in Australia, and therefore, I cannot legally export.
Allready I have had a few emails from people in the USA wanting these Albino's.***

This was posted Jan 04, 2002:
***As some people might know I have been breeding Yellow Bearded Dragons for
some years now. Two tears ago I had several clutch's of very pale Dragons
from a yellow girl mated with a yellow boy. Where these pale colours come
from beats the hell out of me. They should have been yellow.
>
> I decided to raise some to see what they would turn out like so I hung
onto 3 girls and 3 boys. At 9 months of age one of my girls dropped her
first clutch of eggs. When these hatched they again where very pale but
this time with red lines running down either side of their backs. Extremely
attractive. I had around 80 eggs hatch at the start of last winter. Some
of you may even own some of these.
>
> Well my first clutch for this season started to hatch yesterday. When I
took the lid off the container I could see 3 heads sticking out of their
eggs. The first 2 appeared normal pale colours but the third look different.
Here was a pink head looking at me with red eyes. I waited another six
hours then checked again. The 3 were now all out of their eggs and sure
enough, 1 completely pink albino vitticeps.
>
> As far as I am aware this is the first one recorded even with all the
millions bred in the USA.
>
> The big question will be how to raise it. Dragons need UV light to grow
properly. Will the UV have an effect on the albino skin and or eyes. I
would look forward to any comments from people who breed these lizards.

> I only wish I had a digital camera so I could post a picture for people to
see. If anyone who lives in the Gosford area and has a digital camera who
would be willing to do so, please contact me.

So are these albinos that were spoken of in the threads on kingsnake related to these "new" albinos? From what I can determine by reading the posts on kingsnake, these albinos were produced by breeding siblings together to enhance the light yellow color in the offspring, and then out popped a few albinos. Pretty interesting.

Kelli,

No this are from different parents and not related at all and it is a different person that has them. The parents appear normal, not pale. There have been other albino's found in the wild in field studies in Australia also, but not alive. There also was a few hatched in Las Vegas from dragons that were brought in from Germany, but they only survived a few days and would not eat. Those were also close relation breedings. So these are the first we know that are from parents unrelated, eating and appear to be very healthy

All the ones that hatched albino from anywhere, have come from gold/yellow lines of dragons. They come from the New South Wales area which is were they have also been found in the wild (deceased) by field researchers, except the ones in Las Vegas that originated in Germany and no telling where those orignated from. But obviously the het gene is there and it is just a matter of time I think before we start seeing them appear in the US.

Do you know if the person in Las Vegas that hatched the albinos that failed to survive has breed the parents back to each other again??? Do they still have the parents? Sorry for the questions, but I'm curious!

Justyn,

No, they were not bred again to each other and they plan on not breeding them again to each other. It was an accidental breeding of young dragons. The owners did not think dragons that young would bred and they were siblings. The babies that hatched had many defects and were not viable, none of the clutch survived more than a few days.

The point is there are het dragons out there and in time albino's will appear from normal breeding without having to inbreed them and risk the health of the offspring, something I am very opposed to.

Any parents that produced albinos, mean they were het for it and their siblings were possible hets and their parents before them.

The fact that all known ones have come from gold/yellow dragons is a head up that is where the het gene is. I think within the next few years we will start to see ones appear unexpectally as we are seeing the translucents appearing now.

A few months back they were doing fine. I have not talked to him for awhile and have a different computer and email, I will have to dig it up and email him for an update.

The ones that hatched in Las Vegas were never verified by anyone that I know of and I do not know if he has the parents or just the offspring.

are they still alive??????

Did you read anything posted here?

It would appear, as of a few months ago, they were still alive.

I suspect for several reasons that they have made their way to another country now. If I am correct, I think we will see more showing up in the US shortly

excellent, i hope I get to see one in person in the coming years. . .I wonder if there are any health issues that are tied into the albinism.

They can no take natural sun, which is probably why none have survived in the wild in Australia. These were raised with low level UVB inside and supplements, but healthy.

Randy of AlphaDragonZ.com says this is also the case with the translucent dragons one of the main reasons the first generations of them were so weak. Now they know more in raising them and are getting some much more healthier offspring, plus he is outcrossing his stock to strengthen them an make hets. That the the correct way to introduce a new recessive trait and make it secure/strong
