    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hello, everyone knows the heat tape everyone uses to heat racks, does it ever "die" or stop working good?

Actually, I too would like to know of people's experience with heat tape. I just had a sweaterbox system made and I need to heat it. It's going to cost me about 200 to outfit it with heat tape and I want to know I'm makeing a good investment.
Thanks all!

I have some racks with Heat Tape and they are  still working after 6+ years. As for $200.00 what are you paying per foot at what width. That just seems high unless your rack is just huge. Frank

We have been using the flex watt now for over 1 yr and have had great luck with it. We wire all of it thru a thermostat and then some thru a rheostat. We also have some of the pipe tape but you need to be careful because it gets very hot.    Casey

Actually, 200 is for twenty feet of it, with five sets of connectors. (3.69/ft at big Apple for 11" width.) My system is four feet long with five shelves. That amount also includes the rehostats-three of them. They aren't cheap- they are about 30 or 35 each and are about half of that figure.

Thank you. I now see why the price is what it is. At first I thought you were talking about one long piece of heat tape with only one set of connectors.
