I am posting this question in light of the recent post on BOI in regaurds to Mark and Aimee Berger (see this post: http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=34711&perpage=5&pagenumber=1 )
That post has seemed towards the end to move from the original intent (rightfully so) , to a post about when to use heat packs.
I have shipped quite a few animals in the past, and have an honest question. I have never tried this, and have no idea about the results?
I was wondering if when the temps are in the 50's-60's , if it would make sense to include both a heat and cold pack in the box with the reptiles? I was thinking.. (LOOK OUT
) that the two different packs would/could balance each other out to maintain a decent temp range.
I was thinking maybe wrapping them both in papertowels, next to each other , with a separation between them and the animals (ie newspapers in the box as normal). You might want to tape the heat/cool packs to the box, in a different area than the animal.
This is just a thought, and I am NOT suggesting anyone do this. If you have tried it, please post results here. If you haven't.. maybe it would be something worth trying, without any animals, and with sensors in it to see what the temp range would be.
Thanks
