In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Spiral Tail Ranch is a non-profit organization that rescues all reptiles.

We have a reptile vet that is always availible to treat any ailments. When the reptiles are ready, we help find them new homes.

We are well knowleged in the needs of many species, and we always have proper caging, lighting, and food availible to accept any reptiles. Please look at our website http://www.geocities.com/spiraltailranch

We always accept any reptiles, reptile products, or even donations. If you do donate, we send you a picture of the reptile, that you helped save and keep you updated on their progress.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact Emily or Anthony at [email protected]

Thank you for your time!

O meetoo, donate your boas to me and your reptiles and stuff, that way I don't hafta save up from my paycheck to get them. But they got to be nice boas.

rescue??

Maybe it just me, don't get me wrong but if i was the one running a rescue sight wouldn't it be better to offer your animals up for adoption and not For Sale. I'm not saying it is wrong but just odd. Heck i'll rescue all the animals that need recuing too! :D

To all of you

You know, I didn't post that to get ridiculed. There are many people who have reptiles and don't take care of them.

We don't do this just to get "free stuff." We do this to help mistrated and unwanted animals. So if you are in it just to get free stuff, and make money off of it, or poke fun at us for trying to care, than we are not interested in hearing from you.

Sincerely,
Emily Farren

Stacy...

Stacy?

What is that supposed to mean? I in no way said anything about sale. We don't care what type of reptiles they are either. They can be injured, deformed, so what. thus the word RESCUE. If you don't understand yet, than you can contact me personally and I will explain it to you further.

Emily Dont get upset but your new to this site and I think what Stacey ment was we've seen people offering to rescue animals and then turn around and sell them at least thats what I remember happening JMHO Billy

just FYI since you are new to the site

There is a adoptions forum for the solicitations ....

the point the others have made is many poeple come here and say they are "rescuers" to only weeks later post those animals for sale at market values , while i understand the need for people to run a rescue operation if you notice most operations such as this only aske for adoption fees NOT the total costs they have to rehab the animals what im saying most as a flat fee of $ amount of money no matter what the animal was brought in with . to nurse a animal to health and then want market value is one thing .that why the " donations go for to rehab the animals .not so people can house them to resale them for market value .

Uh...that wont work. She can't post this in the adoptions section. The adoptions section is for advertising animals in need of homes, not for solicitation purposes.

Emily...I've been a member here a long time now and I've seen that 9 times out of 10, people advertising that they'll take in rescues are just looking for free animals. I'm sorry your offer here wasn't taken in the best of spirits but once you've been here a while, you'll understand. Therefore, whenever someone advertises, people assume the worst. If you're genuine, I'll be the first to apologize.

I take in rescues too but I don't advertise online. If someone has a problem and I know I can help, I'll offer but that's it. I feel that the needs of my local area need to be covered first. There are no official reptile rescues here. I am the reptile contact person for our local shelter, they call me when anything comes in and I pick it up that day. I keep rescues for several months and then I adopt them out, only charging shipping and a shelter donation. It's a loss-loss situation for me, as I make nothing back for what I do, but I do it for the love of the animals. I have my hands full on a regular basis and just the thought of openning myself up to animals from all over the US, due to internet advertisements like yours, makes my head spin!! Are you sure that is what you want to do?? I'm pretty sure it's not too late to delete your posts! LOL!!

Emily, a rescue is an honorable thing to do. However, please verify that you possess a 501(c) certificate before stating that you're a non-profit organization. I wasn't able to verify that through your website.

Alan, just a correction: The Adoptions forum is NOT for soliciting animals for adoption, it is only for listing those that are for adoption.

Jeez the shipping alone to the North Pole where you are must take a huge amount of resources. I saved up and bought a few snakes last week and it was fifty five dollars just for the shipping can you imagine?
(So folks, as I said, send your rescues to Texas:)
Maybe you could rescue animals that do not have to be sent such long distances, like elk and seals and salmon. And elves.

lol lucille

that was to funny ... and being as i dont ever have to adopt anything out iwasnt sure what way the adoptions were in order for . Please forgive me father for i have sinned ... lol

Awwww, mom Sybella, you mean I can't pick off their wings and watch them sorta wriggle around????

sale?

All I was stating is that I went to check out your sight as you gave the link to do - so and what is one of the Links that I see on it??? Animals For Sale. I just found that curious i figured a Non-Profit organization would offer the animals up for Adoption not for sale.

LOL!! Lucille, Lucille, Lucille...stop! My belly is aching now!! I'm having flashbacks of my aunt and her bug "hospital," where she'd pluck the legs or wings off so they'd have a reason to be there! LOLOLOLOLOLOL!!

colorado rescue?

i believe theres a rescue site based out of colorado that advertised baby boas for "adoption"...costs included with this "adoption" were about 70-80 for the actual snake...40 bucks or so for shipping...on top of a 10 dollar application fee, now why "adopt" over the internet like that when most local exotic shops sell baby boas for sometimes well under 100?

<---little skeptical of the exotic "adoption agencies" myself :)

I'm sure you have a point... I just can't figure it out.

Colorado Reptile Humane Society had a gravid boa surrendered to them. When the babies were born, they offered them for ADOPTION for a slightly higher amount than their standard adoption fee. Why? Because you were adopting a perfectly healthy baby boa - not someone's screwup. The adoption fee was accompanied by a FULL adoption application - the same one you have to fill out to adopt ANY animal from them. The application fee is credited towards your adoption fee. Shipping... There's no argument there.

Why adopt from a rescue? Maybe to HELP.

NOTE: On the rescue page - there is a spot for adoptions. Maybe you just did'nt notice it.

The animals for sale ARE NOT the adoptions. Aparently you can look at the bold print but not read into anything. I distribute healty animals that I pay for to people in my area. I make $10 or less off of each of these animals. That $10 goes towards the recovery of other reptiles. There currently aren't many reptiles where I live, so yes, it is a great idea to offer rescue locally, which I alreay have. The whole idea is that I was trying to help.

I do not have another job. I devote all of my time to this because I think that the way the pet store does things is very wrong. I am getting people away from the pet store. This may not be true in your area, but it is here. The way other people do things needs improvement as well.

The animals that I recover, If I do put them up for adoption, the fees are minimal.

So far, I havn't had one suitible to be adopted. One female veiled chameleon that I rescued had way too many problems. Kidney falure, abcesses throughout her entire body, no muscle, no fat, and on top of all that she was gravid. Another one I've had for only a month, but she still will not open her eyes and is breathing heavily. Both of these are not from Alaska.

All these are problems that I deal with every day. Yet, maybe she'll get better, then maybe I'll find her a good home....

I do this because I care more about animals, especially reptiles, than anything else. Even myself. And I know that is going to be hard for you all to understand. "How can someone be in it for something other than the money??" Well, I have already poured thousands of dollars into this and I will continue to do so, I do not aim for any gain whatsoever.

__________________________

Why is it people don't ridicule organizations trying to save cats and dogs. They charge very large fees for their animals.

www.hbprr.org *quote from them*
"The adoption fee is $200.00. This is a non-profit organization, and the adoption fee is the only way we can pay for the veterinary care of these animals."
___________________________

So, I apologize for what you call "soliciting" and I did not mean to do so, My sole purpose was to offer people an option.

Oh, and yess, shipping is outrageous. If we're lucky, $30.00. But I pay every cent.

Also, did you notice the big bold statement on the front page of my website telling you where "all" the profits go???

Sincerely,
Emily Farren
