    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

My friend gave me a Dumerils boa because it was having trouble feeding. She will just strike at the rat and not eat it. Over and Over. I've left it overnight but didn't seem to help. Is this normal? any suggestions would be appreciated. I have boas but this is my first dumerils.

Thanx

" IS THIS NORMAL" ???????????? what kind of question is that? I dont have a Dumeril's Boa, but i can tell you that NO that is not normal. LOL.

I have heard that dumerils can be picky eaters. It is still a baby too.

It actually sounds like the boa is afraid of the food. How big is the boa and what size food are you trying to feed. You might want to go down a size or two on the rodent to see if this helps. Hope this helps

Truthfully, try exposing the prey's brain that will definiteley kick in the little guy's natural instinct.

Go hit Wlamart get one of the rubbermaid shoe box tubs they cost like .99cents there maybe 6x12inchs, get some aspen bedding and place a think layer in the bottom a good inch or so. get a small water dish a little ceramic one it cant tip over and set the snake up in a LOW traffic area were its 82 degrees. You may want to place the tub in a aquirum of some kind if you dont have a rack unit, those lids pop off really easy. Let him set for 7-10days only checking on the water then throw in a white hopper mouse. leave it over night if he doesnt eat it repeat in 7days. You want the hopper to be slighlty larger then one you would buy for an equal size common boa. It sounds to me like he is stressed. do not atempt to feed more then 7days apart, all you will do by trying to feed him every 3days is stress him and then hell start to associate the prey item with stress. For some reason they seem to prefer white mice to colored and rarely have I been able to start them on rat pinks. Once in a while one may take one as a first meal but normally all they will take is white hoppers. till you get him eating a few times do not disturb him aside from maintaining him. Best of luck!

I gave her a break for a while and tried a Rat pink. I left it with her overnight and she ate it. That was about two weeks ago. I have not tried to feed her since. I want her to get a good appetite before I try again. Thanks for your input though.

yeah dumerils are really picky eaters when you just get them
when i got mine it didnt eat for iek 2-3month but now eats every week

I had to move him to a much smaller enclosure
Ground boas just hide all day and dont move much (maybe at night but im usualy asleep at that time ;) )

i know its an old topic but its very useful for other new dumeril boa owners
