YOU might want to go check that. It is illegal to own an alligator as a pet in FL. The only way you can legally possess American alligators in the state is with an Alligator Farming license, which costs $250 per year and requires inspections from Florida FWC.
I don't think Dave would appreciate you asking him to do something illegal.

How funny... first your friend needs some, but YOUR moving to FL so it's "legal". Guess we know who the mysterious "friend" is... and here I was hoping it'd be your buddy Steve.
Those gators are hella cute though... if they stayed that size I'd be all over them... oh wait, they're not legal in IL either. :)
well guys we have 2 babies left :)
well we just got 5 more in let us no they will go fast:D

Not legal in California either. 909 area code is Southern California, Riverside County. However I may be mistaken.

Thats cool. Do you guys allow visitors? I used to live in Southern Cal and never heard of you guys. Let me know if you allow visitors, I would be interested in checking some gators out whenever I'm down there.
Thanks-

Its funny or rather deliberate- I know Fl is strict, Louisiana practically will no longer let any-one own one and TX is same as FL for the American Gator... gee, States they are indigenous to! Think that is maybe to avoid the captives from spoiling the wilds!!

American Alligators are illegal to posses without a permit in a number of states: Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Virginia, New York, Alabama, Louisiana, Texas, Illinois, California, N. Carolina, Arkansas, Tennesse, etc. (This is just off the top of my head, I may have missed a few) In addition in many of these states it lists all crocodilians. In Florida you have to have 1,000 hours or one years experience, get a letter of approval from the county or municipality you live in, meet minimum caging requirements, go through an inspection, and last but, not least...have a good reason for needing the permit. Secondly you can apply for an alligator farm license...No reason to go into the details on this one at the moment. Oh, lets not forget the fees and transport paperwork that has to be kept. I hope anyone selling alligators...Shipping out of Florida...Must file a transport permit or it's illegal. This tracks the origion and destination of the specimens. I know that seems discouraging however, if you were aware of how many alligators we get sent to us on rescues, the laws make sense. Sorry about chiming in on the sales just trying to help out. If anyone needs anymore info or crocodilian care sheets I'd be happy to help. Thanks , hrpbrdrsch@netzero.net

I was wondering what the cost of an alligator would be to be shipped here to altoona pa 16601
D'you still have any gators left? I'd love to buy one, but I have to apply for a permit, which over here is only like a 72 hour wait. No hassel. I have experience with crocs and belong to The Kenya Wildlife society, and am also working on opening my own zoo. My dad can bring baby crocs back from Singapore by the cage full, but I want more experience with a gator. Only thing is, can you ship abroad? I live in the middle east. My e-mail is zahr90@hotmail.com
Could you also please send me some more pictures of the little cuties?
Thanks, Zar

Stacey,
I would strongly urge you to do some research first. Your replies indicate that you have no clue as to what's involved in the proper care and upkeep of crocodilians. Do you even have the facilities and resources to care for a 15' adult alligator? As I stated in the other thread, these are not disposable pets!
Also, do you even know what steps you have to go through to legally purchase an alligator? Your profile indicates that you are in Texas. The Texas Administrative Code is very explicit in permit requirements and criminal penalties for unlicensed possession of an American alligator.
