    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I am in the process of getting materials for building a hatchling rack. My questions is this do you guys think I should use for the tubs?
sterilite 1752-6qt 14 1/2"L x 8"W x 4 5/8"H
Sterilite 1754-15qt 17"L x 11 1/8"W x 6

Which would you use? They are about the same price. I want to build something that they can stay in until they gointo there rubbermaid 2221 tubs which I hope will be good for the duration. Thanks,

I use slightly smaller containers (Sterilite 1852 - 4 1/2 qt - dimensions not given on label) for hatchlings (once they're eating well and can leave their deli cups) and then move them up to Steritlite 1854 - 12 qt - 16 1/2" X 11 1/2 " X 6" when they are about a year old. I then keep them in these for the next year or 2 (depending upon growth rate). The sizes you mention aren't available in my area, I guess. Of the 2 you mentioned, and if you want to keep your snakes in the same size until almost adulthood, go with the 15 qt. It's a bit big for new hatchlings, but if they're eating well, and with enough hides, they shouldn't feel too exposed and do well.
 
I use the 6qt tubs for hatchling colubrids I intend to raise to adulthood.
I use this size for space reasons, and to keep from having such a multitude of racks for the different boxes.
For corns specifically, they remain in the 6qt tubs for a year or so and by that time they are getting cramped and ready to move into the 28qt adult boxes.
Ideally I would have enough space to have racks for all three sizes, and move them from the 6qt earlier, but this isn't the case right now, and won't matter in the future since I'm phasing out several of the colubrid projects including the corns.

Another option is to build a rack for the 28qt sterilite so that the boxes slide in sideways. In the same space you can also put two of the 15qt boxes. This allows you to make double use of the rack depending on your needs at the time, but will be governed by the mechanics of your collection. It isn't practical in some cases, because when you graduate the space to the 28qt you will lose a box.

I will probably go ahead at some point and build a few 15qt racks for the young ball pythons, but that's not a priority project right now. For the time being I move 6-8 month old balls directly to the 28qt size and provide a tight hide box.
