In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Ranco thermostat for $48

How the heck do you navigate through that site?! I searched FOREVER and couldn't find either of the thermostats. I searched by part number, name, etc.

Go to www.controlsdepot.com

Under "Order Online", click on "Price and Availability".

In the box next to "search", enter ETC-111000, then hit "Go".

You'll see the following:

I didn't see an edit option.

Which of these is the normal Johnson:

JOHA419AEC-1C 120/240V ELECTRONIC DIGITAL TEMPERATURE CONTROL WITH NEMA 4 ENCLOSURE -30/212F INCLUDES SENSOR WITH 9" LEADS 0 $ 61.31 ea

What is the difference between the first two, and what's up with the 4 enclosure ones?

Thanks

The first one you have listed is the one you want. The difference between the first two listed is one is 120v/240v and the other is 24v. You want the 120v one. The Nema 4 enclosure is a water proof enclosure. It also requires additional water proof fittings to wire up. Unless you plan on putting it into a wet environment, you don't need it.

Great, thanks. Do you know what is needed to wire a power strip into one of these?
You need the power strip with the plug end cut off, the insulation stripped back and the three wires stripped. You will also need to purchase a grounded power supply cord. I have attached a modified wiring diagram I have sent people needing assistance wiring one of these up.

Thanks for the help. How hard is it to wire one of these?

It's not difficult if you can read a basic wiring diagram and have a basic knowledge of electricity. I've wired so many of them I can do it in my sleep now...lol

is it neccesary to connect a power strip to the thermostat? doesn't the thermostat come with an outlet?

Same question...What if i'm only using it to control 1 section of flexwatt for 1 enclosure. Do you have a wiring diagram for that??

dennis i was wondering what the differences between these two are... the second one say it has a disply and sensor but i would imagine the first one would at minmum would have the display.. does the first one have both the display and sensor as well?

Are these good temp controlers? I need one to control the temps in my cages (I will have 2-4 cages). Will this product work well? If so I am going to get one instead of the ones for $19.99. Thanks

Use the same wiring diagram, instead of a power strip wire on a household extension cord. The ones you can get for a buck at wal-mart, they have three plugs so you can controll up to three heating elements.

They are the best for the money, alot better than the 19.99 unit, from which I have heard from several usedr is bound to fail.

the thermostat does not come with an outlet, if you are just a little handy you can wire it up yourself, if not I would suggest paying a little more and having Dennis wire it up for you.
