• Responding to email notices you receive.
    **************************************************
    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

The December issue of Reptiles Magazine listed 6 reptile-related careers and discussed how to pursue them. They listed: Zookeeper, Conservationist, Herpetologist, Herp Veterinarian, Vet Tech and professional breeder. They also listed the following Universities as schools with excellent herp reputations: Cornell University, University of Kansas, Harvard University, University of California (Berkeley), University of Texas, University of Florida, University of Miami, University of Oklahoma, University of Michigan and University of Colorado. You can study in a number of concentrations including Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, Neurobiology and Behavior, Conservation Biology, Natural Resource Management, Animal Science, etc. I currently study at Cornell University and have taken classes in all the above concentrations.

Is there even a technical term for being a herpetologist.
That is more of a blanket term.
As a friend told me, a herpetologist can be somebody who went to college for 6 years, has a masters degree and paid a lot of money, or a 6yr old kid with a frog in a jar.
Because they somehow learn from reptiles, and studying their behavior, even minorly.
Something you would want to do is find a college with a strong Biology, or Zoology program. You can either major in Biology, or it would take less time to major in Zoology, and you can have your emphasis on reptiles.
A biology major requires getting a masters degree in Zoology, that takes more time, but I do believe you get a better emphasis on your exact field of study.
