In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

We have been corresponding with this person who called himself Danny.  He inquired about an amel. fat tail that we posted on Kingsnake.com.  We quickly replied to his emails, and took extra photos of other animals for him as he requested.  He finally replied and told us that he was going to send a money order for our stripe amel. fat tail, and we even gave him a $50.00 discount on the animal.  Tonight we emailed him just to ask if he had the chance to send the money order, this is our email:
Danny,
We just wanted to find out if you had the chance to send the money order today.  We are holding the gecko for you until we receive an answer from you via email.  We look forward to hearing from you.

This is what he replied:
Brian I have every thing to give you? But you keep emailing me like if you are on wellfair.Sell it and get me out of your world. Regards, Dan

After we received this email, we replied with this email:
Dan,
Obviously a misunderstanding has occured.  You said that you were sending out the money order today, and we were just checking to see if you did.  Now it is coming back to me why I thought your name looked familiar.  You have flaked out on a deal with us before.  We do not need your money, nor are we in a state of wellfair.  You approached us with questions about the animal, we took extra photos for you, and you told us you were purchasing the animal.  We have every right to ask you if you sent the money order, and your response was totally uncalled for!

After this, we contacted him via AOL Instant Messenger and he proceeded to call us explicit names.  He continued to be rude to us, and his reply was totally uncalled for.  We were just wondering if anyone else has encountered this person?  Just a heads up, he may not be worth all this effort, but we thought we should let others know.  Have a nice night.

Brian...You've been in this business long enough to know that there will always be bad customers, like there will always be bad dealers...you just forget about it, mark it off to the cost of doing business...and move on....which I'm sure you have already! You had every right to call and confirm his payment...that's GOOD business practice! You did everything right and I (for one) appreciate the heads-up! ....Neil

Not only is there something wrong with this, but I can't believe that I am about to say this as well. I agree with Neil 100% on this one.

Situations like this p!ss me off very much. I do not breed or sell anything. But I do buy. And 95% of my purchases take place via the internet. People like this "Dan(ny)", ruin it for those like me. Whenever I initiate a deal or contact, it takes a while to be taken seriously. Due to cupcakes like this. I try to be as upfront and straightforward as I can when I deal with anyone. And it's getting to the point where sellers most of the time won't even give someone the time of day unless they know them. Because they don't even want to bother with the chance of this exact scenario occuring. I don't blame them either. But it makes it difficult for honest buyers like myself. Ok, I will end my little tirade now.

Brian and Laura,

I sure hope this cupcake hasn't soured y'all towards internet buyers in general. There are those of us out here who do have class, integrity, and character.

You may want to consider a different approach such as not persuing the sale. We have had on many occassions people showing an interest, promising to send monies, etc. We email perspective inquiries with a time limit. Monies must be received by "such and such date" and thats it. We dont inquire if they sent the money, etc. If it appears that their are no responses from their side, we dont persue the attempt to contact them any further. In so far as pictures are concerned, we discourage it. I have found that posting a photo when the sale is first advertised on kingsnake avoids having to do it again. Hope this helps JERRY TRESSER

"Due to cupcakes like this."          ROTFLMAO!!!

Brian and Laura,  Sorry to hear about the fruitcake or shall I say cupcake!  You guys did exactly what you were supposed to.  Theres nothing wrong with keeping up good communications what so ever, If he would have been a serious customer he would have appreciated that.  Take care guys...Mike

Brian & Laura,

You guys did the correct thing, don't let this "flake" get you down. I get people like him all the time. As a fatter of fact, I had one week before last. He inquired about some 2 year Leopard Tortoises I had for sale, negotiated a lower price than the advertised price, guaranteed me he would send the money order on Monday. Monday came, he told me He sent it priority mail and I would have it by the end of the week. Well Wed.Thursday,Friday, & sat came and no money order. I e-mailed to see about the tracking number of the Priority mail and he said he had not sent the money order and now had spent all his money at the Hamburg show. </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">I am emailing you now to let you know I have changed my mind ,do to spending to much money at the show ,sorry for any inconvenience ,just don't have the spare cash right now ,john</td></tr></table><span id='postcolor'> This e-mail from him came on Sunday. It really ticks me off when A person does that and then flakes out like that. I had the animals sold to another buyer but had promised to hold them for this idiot. Now the other interested party has purchased others and is no longer interested. Just don't worry about it, we are all bound to run into "cupcakes" like these from time to time. I just don't like the trend I see happening that there are more and more of these types appearing.

As far as I am concerned, an animal is not sold until the money is in my hand, paypal acct. or check clears.   I do not think it is bad business to take back up offers.   If I have an animal that someone has promised money on, and another person says they too are intersted, I email the first person with a time cut off, where the money has to be HERE, not on the way.   Then, if the money comes, I let the back up buyer know.   If it does not show, they have a chance to paypal the money, or wire it, but the following day, the animal can be sold to the back up buyer.   I usually allow way to much time for the first buyer to come through, so when they do not, it is a bad deal for sure.

We had the misfortune of dealing with this c@querocker about 3 weeks ago. He e-mailed saying he would like to buy albino boas @ $500 each. <-- LMAO, I agreed and told him that as soon as he found them to pass me the info so's I can buy the remaining animals. He said he'd purchased many before at this price. Umm... ok... maybe with one eye. This guy gets all offended and starts with the profanities and threats of physical violence. <-- Still LMMFAO. Then he gets real stupid and I quote " You are taking food out my kids mouth. I know who you are and when I see you I'm gonna beat the crap out of you." Uhh... take it to Oprah (save the drama... so to speak). He was invited to the local show that goes on every month (here in S. FL) to exercise his incompetence in public. The show came and went with no deliverance. The following monday he e-mails continuing on his illiberal ways. "I just got out of jail and I don't need to go back because of you." <-- ROFL, Save it buttercup... you know where to find me. No one is going to call the police and there is a cleanup crew on site. You can keep the juvenile tyrade to yourself. You sing the song, I'll do the dance.
What I'd like to know is... if he had bought so many before at $500 then why was he asking me for them? I didn't have any advertised at the time.
IMO, this guy is just looking to waste honest people's time and start trouble. Maybe he's a spark of circumvention (although I highly doubt it)... Maybe we're just a bunch of instigators... Who really cares? Anyway, pretend you're diabetic and stay away from "cupcake".

This guy emailed me about Amel Fat Tails. He offered a ridiculous price and said my pictures looked awful. I just hit the delete and considered him a rude child.

Seems to me that some of the folks that plan on tryng to rip someone off are adept at leveraging vague communications in their effort. "I thought you said this.., You should have realized that.., etc. etc.". When you tried to nail the details down by excersizing good communications skills you were stripping away the cloud of vagueness that this guys could operate under. That's why he got pissed off. You ruined his effort to build a story and execute his MO. Nobody intending to follow through on an honestly constructed transaction would be annoyed by too much communication. jmo.
