    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Just throwing this out there. I've had some extra time to actually sit and participate on Fauna for the past little while and am noticing the almost always empty chat room(s). Would anyone be interested to have the scheduled chats back?

If you are new (or don't remember the sheduled chats) feel free to look through the Chat Forum and look over the past chats we had. I know we had a few of them go very well with some good special guests.

I personally found these events to be a great place to go and learn. Not only did I learn a little more about some of the animals we keep (or intended to keep in the future) but I also learned quite a bit about the Guests and how they go about their day to day, how they personally house their animals, if they have favourites, if they have an animal that they consider their baby, etc etc.

Maybe we can get that place back to where it was headed some time ago. Just a nice place to go and spend some time when you just want to go and mingle.

Don't forget - if you go in the chat room and no one is there it doesn't mean no one is wanting to chat. It just means you caught it at a down time. Sit in there a few minutes and more than likely someone will come along you can talk to. All it takes is one person to get the ball rolling and people will actually stay and chat.

As it stands now it's much like Prairie Dogs - one head pops up to have a look around and then disappears. Then another pops up and disappears. And another...
 
Steve - you probably noticed, but just in case you didn't, I now have a numerical icon displayed next to the chat link in the menu bar that shows how many users are currently in the chat rooms. If there is no yellow highlighted number there, then the rooms are currently empty. So if someone is interested in chatting, best thing to do is to go there and wait for someone else to show up. The flag has been raised that there is someone in there waiting for some company.

Glad to see you back. The admin password may have changed on you, so let me know if it doesn't work any longer.

Yep, have noticed the yellow numbers - very appreciated. I just thought that it might be a little confusing to those who don't get in chat much to see 5 people shown online and have no one in the chat when you get there.

Go to other rooms! If it shows people there and you are along in the chat room look around at the other rooms! (click "Rooms" tab)

I'm trying to stay put in the main lobby. I've been able to snag a few people that way.

The admin password has changed. No biggie - the operator one is still the same and will most likely suffice for now. I'm not doing too much in there for the time-being anyhow. Just visiting!

I hope to see some new people there. I have no life - I enjoy the company. Come and chit-chat!
