I have talked to many people within the last 6 months to find why people do not keep ringneck snakes more often. It came down to 3 reasons as to why, their size, their shyness and the fact that some can be difficult to get feeding. One good way to make a snake not be so shy, and get bigger, is to get it eating on a regular schedule every few days. I know how you can get them to eat, salamanders, if you have the northern sub-species, the prairie sub-species, the southern sub-species or the mississippi sub-species, salamanders are the key for success. Salamanders cost anywhere from $1 to $4 each, depending on size and the number you want. No ringneck snake is too small to get food for.
