    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

:slamit: In a few days (thursday) i am going to be feeding my emerald for the first time ever. I have read reports stating that its good to feed them a live crawler and then heard a frozen one is better. My emerald is about 4 ft-5 but cant really tell due to him and his "F*ck the world" basis on being touched (but hell let me change the water bowl...bastard). I really would prefer to feed him a frozen thawed crawler using feeding tongs.any advice is greatly appreciated and i really dont want my, as one user put it (not directed at me) "175.00 s*itty import" to be problematic as everything has been smoothe thus far and this is really the test to see if its all as good as it seems. ANY past encounters or advice on feeding for the first time in a new enclosure is appreciated. And finally i have waited 2 weeks a 3 days by the time thrus rolls around so i think thats enough time before i feed him correct? thank you for your help.

Try frozen first, heat it up before attempting to feed. Ways u can heat it up is leave it in really hot water after defrosting for a few seconds or hold the head up to a light bulb. If that doesn't work, try live but don't leave the snake alone with the live rat/mouse.

Feeding is Fun TIME

Hello again, glad to see that you are still hanging in there. Before you feed make sure that the animal is hunting arround the cage at night. If he is you should be good to go.

Times to feed are dusk and dawn, when the animals are most active. Also shut off all heat to the cage 30 min before feeding, that way the prey can be seen clearly

First, buy a FT small rat, at 4-5 feet a emerald should not even bulge when he eats this size prey. Thaw rat in luke warm water, why luke warm water? Have you ever smelled slow poached Rat, let me tell you that you wont like it and neither will he. MAKE SURE THE PREY IS TOTALLY THAWED!!

Second, get another bowl of super heated water 120 to 15 degrees, in a well insulated container, like a mug.

Third, grasp the prey by the neck using a long pair of forceps/hemostat. Dip the prey in the hot water for 30 seconds, and remove and present to the animal. If you get no takers, try to anger him slightly by light pinching when the animal is observing the prey closely. Just be patient, it sounds like he will feed quite fast with that attitude.

keep it up

joe
