    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I have a 30 gal tall aquarium that I would like to convert to a reptile or amphibian tank. I was thinking about dart frogs or newts or a combination if that is possible.

I am looking for a good show tank with bright animals, preferably a tank with multiple animals and species. is it possible to keep more than one species of darts together or do they fight, if it is how many will fit in this tank? if only one species how many.

can newts and darts be kept together?

is there a good combination of different species and types of amphibians that can be kept in the same tank without problems or will they not mix whatsoever?

thanks for any replies

Dart Frogs!!!

I am working on a 55 gal. tank now for dart frogs!
You could keep 3-6 darts in your 30 gallon cage.
If you are still looking to learn about darts and get some ideas on how to set up a cage go to www.dartden.com and click on the form!!! It is a great site all about Poison Dart Frogs, and you will find all the stuff you need to know about which types of darts can be keept with each other!!! Also they have several people on there that have cheap darts for sale!!!

I do not think it would be good to keep darts and newts in the same cage.

heplful hints

It is not a good idea to keep newts and dart frogs together. If one of the newts even tried to nibble the frog, chances are it could die. A general rule to follow is 1 dart frog for every 5 gallons of space. It really depends on the species though. If they are bigger then you will need to give them more space. The best thing to do would to get a pair of unsexed darts and there is a 50/50 chance that they will be male and female. If you do get 2 males, they don't tend to fight as much and as aggressively as females. If you get 2 females, you better separate them. Females will generally fight to the death over territory and other issues. One of the easiest species to keep are D. Tinctorious, although they are usually a little more expensive. If you want cheaper ones, I would go for the D. Auratus green and black morph. They are usually cheaper if you get the Panamanian kind. If you want a site that carries many reptile and amphibian supplies, I would go to www.lllreptile.com.
They have many different foods, cages, screen covers, and substrate. They don't carry a wide variety of darts though. Hope this info helps!!!
