In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Here the questions about Ouijia boards. One would you play with a board?
And two has anyone had some really creepy stuff happen as a result of playing with a board?
Well my own two cents on these. I won't even allow one in my apartment. I've known too many people who have called up more than spirits with these. It seems funny how the "spirit" that is called up is always a small child that died on the premises.
Let me know if you have had an incident with these boards.
Thanks.

i have a very strong opinion towards ouijia boards, like you i would never allow one one my house, nor will i ever let anyone in my presence "play" with one

i feel as though what you are contacting are demons when you play with an ouijia board, its like a summoning, you totally opening up doors and are allowing evil spirits to pass through, not just because of "the exorcist" but because of research and what has happened to a friend of mines family after they attempted to contact a loved one on halloween with it, go figure...no one was demonically possesed, but happenings in their place lead me to believe that what they had was a seriously hostile "spirit" that mysteriously showed up after playing with an old ouijia board, they had about 3 priests bless their house, the entity still remained after the 5 blessings, they finally had to have a couple christians and 2 priests bless their house, this was about 4 years ago, i'm going to email them and ask if they still have the pictures from their hallway, i remember one having a large black misty figure in it, creepy stuff

this may sound like total BS, but if he gives me permission, i'll give you his email address and you can ask for the story yourself

My opinon, their bad news. There is a spiritual world out there and thats a door to the bad side.
Focus on the good! :)

I agree. It's *very* bad news. Especially knowing what ecological effects it could have on your local fauna. I mean let's look at it honestly - how would your local wildlife, with it's few natural predators, fair with a herd of African Lions? Or Tigers?

Not only that, but the game pieces moving on their own is enough to freak anyone out. There is a reason this game was buried in the first place an-.....

....waitaminute.....maybe I'm thinking of the wrong game.

doh!

Sorry, I was thinking of Jumanji. I always get those two similar games confused...

In all honesty we did have a Ouija board somewhere in the house some time ago. I think it just pretty much sat there since day one and I've never had the opportunity to 'play' with it. It even glowed in the dark!

When I was young and still at home there were a couple of Ouija boards in the house (if one wasn't telling us anything interesting we'd break out the other one) I remember my sister and I always used to accuse each other of pushing the "pointer" or whatever it's called. Well one time we were doing that again, and so I really did try to push the pointer to prove my point and it wouldn't budge. It was like it was glued to the board. I freaked out and flung the board off of our laps. I don't think I "played" with it after that. That was kind of freaky!

Someone I know who happens to be very religious had an encounter with a Ouija board. Some freinds and family were messing with a board down in the basement. She would have nothing to do with the whole thing, but was finally prodded to come downstairs. When she went down there the board went nuts. The pointer kept going to the no word, over and over. It wouldn't work again until she went back upstairs.
So I agree with most of you. For god's sake it doesn't even look like any game.

the beings you are talking to are satans fallen angels commonly known as demons. According to the bible the dead are not allowed to communicate with the earthly world, in fact it is forbidden to pray to the dead or contact the spirit world. It is satans job to lie to you and in this case he mascarades as a child or relative or some other tradjedy victim so tey can lure you in.
God and Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit you want to deal with

Just an innocent question. I got curious reading your post:

What is he luring me into by masquerading as a child or relative through a Ouija Board..?..

If he said I am a demon come to seduce you into my world would you not run like hell. If you think it is the poor lost soul of a child or a relative you will be more apt to pay attention to him. Necromancy, witchcraft or any of the dark arts is satanism and he is out to lie to you and harm you. Why wast your energy with something like that instead of The Lord Jesus Christ who loves you and is the only way to Heaven.

I said nothing about paranormal investigation in my last reply I was refering to calling up spirits on a ouija board. That being said I dont want to start arguements or make enemies. If you are a Christian, I say that because only you know not that I doubt you, pray about it

you must be one of those christians who likes to judge people by what they do, or believe in, i do not need to pray about it, no one here said they called up spirits on an ouijia board, no one here is performing witchcraft, or any other satanist thing

i think we could all do without your judgemental opinion

Thanks

Hey man Im really sorry, the last thing I was trying to do was be judgemental. What I meant by that was what you do is up to you. I have issues of my own that Im trying to deal with I have no room to judge you or anyone else. If I had not been so into that stuff myself at one time I never would said anything so I guess Im a little pasionate about the subject. As I said I apologise to you I meant no offense.

Whoa! Hi there! How goes things?

Hey, let's get back to this Ouija Board thing, shall we?

Let's see here....

Does anyone know how it started? I mean it must have come from somewhere before Parker Bros got hold of it?

Actually, hang on, let me go look it up.....

Here we go, for your viewing pleasure:

HISTORY OF THE OUIJA BOARD
While automatic writing was being embraced by mediums, those who satisfied their curiosity about the spirit world in the "home circles" were also searching for a more efficient way to reach the other side than by rapping on tables.

In 1853, a French Spiritualist named M. Planchette (according the to the stories anyway -- it should be noted that "planchette" in French translates to "little plank", making this story a little dubious) invented a device that could do much more than tap on the table. The “planchette” was a small, heart-shaped table with pencils attached to its legs. Those who used it claimed that it operated by spirit force and ghosts were able to write out messages from beyond. The invention was often used by the mediums as a more elaborate form of automatic writing, but it really did not hold wide appeal for the general public.

However, a short time later, another invention would come along that could be used by everyone. No experience was required and no real psychic skills were needed. This new device would revolutionize the Spiritualist movement and have an impact that still resounds today. The Ouija board was born.

Shortly after the planchette came to America, a cabinet and coffin maker from Maryland named E.C. Reiche created a new method of communicating with the dead. He devised a wooden lap tray with the letters of the alphabet arranged in two lines across the center of the board. Below these letters, he placed the numbers 1-10 and the words YES and NO in each lower corner of the board. He used the planchette with his board but removed the pencil tips and placed wooden pegs on the bottom of it. In this way, the planchette was free to move about the board.

It was always believed that Reiche named his board the "Ouija" because the name represented the French and German words for “yes” (oui and ja) but this was not the case. He named it that because he believed that the word "Ouija" was actually Egyptian for luck. Needless to say, it's not, but since he claimed to receive the word from a spirit on the board, the name stuck.

But Reiche was more interested in spirits than making money and he sold the invention to his friend, Charles Kennard, who soon founded the Kennard Novelty Co. with borrowed money and began producing the first commercial Ouija boards around 1886. The first patent for a "talking board" was filed on May 28, 1890 and listed Charles Kennard and William H. A. Maupin, both of Baltimore, as the assignees.

Shortly after the company started, the shop manager, William Fuld, decided to go into business for himself. He forced Kennard out of the business and changed the name to the Ouija Novelty Co. He began producing the "Fuld's Talking Board" in record numbers and became a successful businessman. He was a member of the Baltimore General Assembly in later life and remained in control of the company for the next 35 years. Finally, in 1927, during a brief slump in sales, Fuld strangely took his own life. He climbed to the top of a Baltimore building and jumped to his death. Other versions of the story have it that Fuld died accidentally while supervising the replacement of a flag pole on top of the building. A support post that he was holding onto gave way and he plunged to his death. This is likely the more accurate version of events, although Fuld committing suicide gave the Ouija an eerie taint over the years.

The Ouija Board was anything but a curse to Fuld's company though. It became the most successful talking board manufacturer of all time, selling millions of boards as well as other toys and games. Fuld had created a new industry with the Ouija board, which he claimed to have invented himself. He started the apocryphal tales of the naming of the board (using oui and ja) and claimed many of his successful sales plans came from the board itself.

His heirs maintained the company until 1966, when they sold out to Parker Brothers. This company, also known for their success with toys and especially board games, produced not only reproductions of the Fuld board but also made a deluxe wooden edition of the board for a time. They hold all of the patents and trademarks to the board today and they still produce it in large numbers. In spite of the fact that it is now sold in toy stores, it remains a near duplicate (albeit a more cheaply made one) of the Spiritualist board that was sold many years ago.

Wow! What a good history! Isn't that a good history of the board? Neat! This explanation came from the Ghosts of the Prairie
