It's somewhat of an older book, but I'm sure the library will have it. Worth checking out, it covers everything from ghosts to crop circles to spontaneous combustion. It called Mysteries of the Unexplained. It's ISBN # is 0-89577-146-2.
Here's some really odd stories from the chapter Anomalies.(My favorite chapter)
Human skulls with horns were found in a burial mound at Sayre, Bradford County, Pennsylvania, in the 1880's. Except for the horny projections some two inches above the eyebrows, the men to whom these skeletons belonged were anatomically normal, though at seven feet tall, well above average height. It was estimated that they were buried about A.D. 1200. (Pursuit, 6:69-70, July 1973)
Seven skeletons were found in a burial mound near Clearwater, Minnesota, in 1888. They had double rows of teeth in the upper and lower jaws and had been buried in a sitting position, facing the lake. The foreheads were unusually low and sloping, with prominent brows. (The Saint Paul and Minneapolis Pioneer Press, July 1, 1888)
Just a thought...
Not saying they aren't frauds, if they aren't it would make you think that some mythological creatures may have had some truth behind them.
These also could have been cases of deformity. Who knows....
