    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

would these be good to house large snakes in?

looks like the 52" sterilite they market for Xmas trees. at $20 from walmart, ya can't beat'em (I've got 4 in use right now). reptiletubs.com has a clearer version for about $30.

yes, they are good. you really can't beat the price for what is essentially a 48"x24"x15" cage (actual size is something closer to 52x21). I still like top access for many/most of my animals. There are little "legs" that allow them to be put over heat tape, allowing for some airflow since the box doesn't sit directly on it. I have built my rack to include several of these on the bottom, then the 73 qt containers I use for my ATBs. The only downfall to my setup is that they are a little big for pulling in and out for animal care. lightweight and convenient, but big enough to be a little awkward (which is why I also have some front opening 4x2's...don't have to move them around)

unless you are planning on doing away with the "stock" top, you really can't put lights on it. flexwatt is the easiest and probably safest way to heat that type of container. If you are set on using some kind of light/heat emitter, you could make a top of wood & hardware cloth and secure it to the box. you would have to be careful of the wattage to avoid melting.

so just go with the flexwatt huh? can i use a regular light just to show off my snakes? sorry bout all the question better to be safe than sorry.

I've never used the tubs from reptiletubs.com, but my understanding is that they are pretty clear. it would be easy enough to put a small fluorescent behind them to provide illumination, if that is your goal...they have a variety that would work well at walmart (and similar). Have fun.
