I've decided, with a heavy heart, that since I'm going to focus so much of my time and income on my ratites, I'm going to have to make cutbacks in the number of extraneous animals I'm feeding and caring for. So, I've decided to sell my pair of proven New Guinea singing dogs. Currently, these canids are still classified as Canis familiarus, so a USDA exotics permit is not required for keeping, breeding, or selling. Their taxonomy may change in the future though.
As for some background information, I bought these back in early December from an exotics broker here in Arkansas. He bought them as dingos, but I quickly learned that they are, in fact, singers and not dingos. This is probably a good thing, as there are only an estimated 200 or so singers in captivity worldwide. These dogs produced a litter of 4 puppies in early December, which the former owner decided to keep and bottle raise. So, they are proven. Both dogs have absolutely wonderful temperaments and have not shown even a slight sign of aggression. They get along with each other very well. They will make excellent pet and/or breeder animals.
I've lowered the price to $700 on them because I need to move them NOW. I prefer local pickup here in Arkansas, and could deliver within a reasonable distance from zipcode 72834 for a small fee, but shipping is also an option. I am Delta verified, and I believe the shipping cost will be somewhere around $150-200, plus the cost of the crate. I can get a more accurate quote tomorrow, though.
I reserve the right to question any potential buyers to make sure the animals will be going to a good home. It'd be best if you didn't have any young children that you planned to let interact with the dogs. Even though they aren't aggressive, they play more roughly than normal domestics, and could injur a child. They also can't be allowed access to other smaller pets, including other dogs, as singers have an incredible prey drive. Other than that though, they can be kept and treated just like any other dog.
