I live in CA. It's ridiculous. The producers always blame it on crude oil prices, consumer demand, or "refinery maintenance" blah, blah, blah. What a coincidence all the producers shut down some refineries at the same time, price goes up. Hmmmmmmmmm?
Then every time the price goes up, the politicians say they can't find any collusion or price gouging, etc. Here's a tip for those clueless morons, just check the gas prices.......First, OPEC raises the price of crude, the next day at the pump, the price shoots up, then it continues to rise, pennies a day, then it peaks and stays there for a while. Then OPEC lowers the price of crude, but now it takes a while for the price to trickle down to the pump, instead of the next day it's a week or two later, and it only goes down a penny at a time, very slowly...........finally it stops dropping...of course never to the before prices, they can leave it a little higher each time, because the consumer is so glad the price is going down "we" don't notice.
Then there is the profits, even though they[petrolium co] are complaining that the cost of crude is too high, and the cost to produce gas is increasing, they are making record profits. The bigger companies made more last year, than the previous two years combined.
Then increased demand is blamed, yet we have some politicians here in CA who want to go from a gas tax at the pump, to tax per miles driven (the government can put a GPS in my car, when they pull the steering wheel out of my cold dead hands, but that's another subject), because the net demand for fuel is going down due to better mileage vehicles, such as hybrids................okay which is it? up or down?
