    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Well Dan, lets start with the facts!  First off you shipped well over 3000 dollars in snakes thru airborn WITHOUT notifying Jeremy of the shipment.  Man, that was smart!!!  Mistake #2, you sent a 6ft boa, in the same box as a snake that was a little over 13 inches.  Yet another brilliant idea!  Oh, and your excuse was a good one!  "Oh, i was gonna leave a message".  Thats pretty bright too Dan,  what happens if they dont get the message?  You go ahead and ship over 3000 dollars in animals anyway?  About the phone call, just who exactly are your buddies in Kalamazoo? and why would you send them to Jeremy's house?<img src="http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'>  Threats???  Thats yet another reason to stay away from this guy.  By the way Dan, the albino boa you sent is dripping fluid from its mouth, and was doing so during the whole time i viewed it this evening.  Luckily enough for me, i have a great vet.  He is the herpetologist for the detroit zoo.  Oh, and you said to send the snake back???  Ya right!  I already told Jeremy not to do that.  With your wonderful business ethics, i dont think youd ever give him his money back.

Another little note i would like to add to this thread.  Jeremy paid 200 dollars for shipping, which was supposed to be airport to airport!  I dont know about anyone else, but when we spend 3800 dollars on animals, we dont want them sitting on our porch while we are at work.  Dan, could you please explain that?  200 for shipping, and then you send it thru airborne express???  Give me a break!  Do you know that those snakes were sitting on Jeremy's porch since 8:54 am til around 6:30 pm???  IN THE SUN!  Was the package even insured??  Oh, thats right, it was shipped illegally, and insurance wouldnt cover a dead snake anyway.  Seeing as how they dont ship snakes!

Be more specific Casey.  I posted what happened.  Jeremy purchased an adult albino female, and a DH snow yearling (3800 dollars).  Then Jeremy gave him an extra 200 for shipping, that was supposed to be Delta dash!  Airport to airport.  Dan was supposed to call and work out the details of shipping with Jeremy.  He never did this.  We found the package on the doorstep at roughly 6:30 in the evening.  After checking the tracking # we found that the package was dropped off before 9 am this morning.  It sat there all day!  3800 dollars! worth of animals.  The animals were also shipped together.  That large boa could have easily crushed or damaged the young boa.  Dan was contacted about this, and he had a horrible attitude.  He even said he was sending some of his buddies from kalamazoo over to Jeremy's house.  Very unprofessional.  The adult albino boa is dripping fluid from her mouth.  He wont answer the phone anymore.  Dan, what happened to the 200 dollars paid for the delta shipping?  Why werent we contacted about shipping details?  Also, when we questioned him about this, he said "well i was gonna leave a message but i was busy".  Thats pretty intelligent Dan.  Dan, get out of the business, in fact, you need to work for someone else.  Nothing but another rip off artist. Anyone that has ANY questions about this, feel free to e-mail me.

Dagggggggggggggg, $200 bucks for a $65 trip via Delta Dash.  That should have been your first clue he was a scammer.  That must be one hell of a box he packed it in for that much more of a box charge.

This is a major reason that most of the posts are on this board.  When will folks ever learn.  A simple 2 minute phone call and email, smoke signals, Morse code, even something in brail would be nice.

Thanks for the heads up on this guy.  I would almost be willing to bet your lucky the animal is still alive, because it sounds like your NOT getting your money back or even some sort of restitution for him selling you an obviously sick snake.  But I would seriously question him hard about that shipping fee.  

Look at the airbill that was on the box, they always write on it how much shipping actually costs.  Tell us what it says.
 
Well Matt, I've had a similar bad experience a week ago today. I bought one of the two DH snow females Dan posted at Kingsnake and upon delivery I was stunned to open up the box to see the snake blown up with gas appearing way out of proportion. She looked like someone had pumped her up like a balloon so I took pictures and notified Dan of this. I also stated to him that from past experience this animal was sure to regurge if she had been fed recently so I asked him when she was last fed. He replied the swelling was because he had just fed her three days prior to shipping and that she eats four or five mice at a time! So her appearance was simply because she was full. Needless to say the next day she regurged four mice and I notified him of this. Later on she regurged a fifth mouse and had diarhea. It has been one week and I don't dare feed this animal again until her stomach bacteria have a chance to rejuvenate and when I do feed her it will be just one mouse to start off with. An experienced herper would NEVER dream of shipping a snake with a full stomach. The animal appears fine now but I won't really know how healthy she is until I feed her one week from now and she holds down the meal. If she regurges then I can guarantee she's going to be making a return trip to Florida real soon.
 
Sorry Matt. I thought if you re-read your first post you would see what I meant. I got it now. Thanx. Is he selling all of his herps? If so, he may not care about his rep.
 
Well, he still hasnt e-mailed me back, and wont answer his phones.  I've seen many sick snakes in my day, and this albino boa is obviously sick.  Im sickened that people actually acquire such nice animals, and care soo little for them.  As long as nobody buys from him again, i'll be happy.  Thanks for the support.

So, what do we all suspect the odds are that a guy with these types of husbandry and shipping practices has fake DH snows available?  From what I've read so far, it wouldn't surprise me if the DH simply stood for "double headache" in a few years when the genetics don't prove out.

I have e-mailed Dan Directly and told him he needs to handle this situation immediately. I hope he at least e-mails you privately or posts on here and makes things right.  He had a problem with a person who sold him something that was sick and made it a point to address the problem on Kingsnake in the classifieds and not on here. I hope he takes the ball now and runs with it as it is in his court.
 
Matt.... Your first clue was the shipping charges! If anybody ever has the nerve to tell me the shipping will be $200! I'd tell them to take that deal and put it where the sun don't shine! You think that's the ONLY adult albino boa around? I could give you a list of about a dozen adult female albino boas for sale RIGHT NOW! And for A LOT LESS than what YOU paid! Are you nuts? And you "bought" that shipping rate? A personal courrier wouldn't charge that much!
Before you sent this guy $3800, did you, at least, talk to him ON THE PHONE?

Just for the record, though.... IF packaged correctly, you can EASILY ship a large and small snake in the same box! You put the large one in a snake bag, and you put the small one in a Rubbermade container so it can't be squished! How easy is that? ....Neil
 
Neil, do you really think i need to be harrassed by you in that manner?  Give me a break!  Obviously we spoke on the phone before sending the money.  That snake was supposed to be shipped delta!  I expected it to cost alot. I do however know how to package animals, and i know that Dan should not have 2 animals of that size together.  You are correct, if they were shipped with the SMALLER snake in a rubber maid, it would have been fine.  However, Dan felt it was ok to ship them on top of one another, in 2 individual sacks.  NO rubbermaid container.  Im shocked that the animals are even alive at this point.  They sat on the porch in the SUN all friggin day!  Dan isnt even big enough to e-mail me, or answer the phone.  He even went to the lengths to threaten and send some of his buddies to Jeremy's house.  Real cute Dan, real cute.....

Neil, if you have contacts for albino boas, e-mail me.  Jeremy wants an adult, or subadult male albino.

I was going to leave this one alone but it couldn't happen to a better guy. I attempted to do a trade with Dan last year. I was sending him a snake for a kitten for my kids for Christmas. I told him I didn't want the kitten until right before Christmas. I sent him a snake that I got in a trade and did not verify the sex. It was mis-sexed. I offered for him to ship the animal back at my expense and he said he would keep it anyway and still do the trade. 3 days before Christmas he decided that I wasn't worth the effort of shipping the cat to me. He had never shipped a cat before and wanted me to set it all up for him. I did that and he still failed to ship the cat. After Christmas I asked him to ship the snake back to me. He refused to do it unless I paid for the shipping. I felt since it was him who had the snake for over a month when he decided not to do the trade that he should pay for it. After continually refusing to ship it I sent him a money order for $40 to ship it back. For weeks he still refused to ship the snake back. Finally I asked someone local to get involved and after they put some pressure on him he took the snake to them so they could ship it back to me. When they got the snake they said it looked like he had been soaking it in mineral oil. Dan is 32 years old, divorced twice and as of last Dec was dating a senior in high school. He is a low life and I can't say I am surprised to hear about his business ethics. If you have gotten anything from him I would put in in lifelong quarantine. He told me on a regular basis throughout our conversations that he was not a snake guy he was a mammal guy. The snakes meant nothing to him except for attempted income. He is apparently selling off his stuff because breeding snakes was a little more involved than putting two cats in a cage together. Webster defines LOSER as.....Dan Bifield.

Well, Dan still does not reply to phone calls, or e-mail.  I noticed he was selling several exotic cats on kingsnake, and i have notified them of this thread.  I hope that they will remove his ads, and discontinue his services until he responds to his mistakes.  I also know that he is selling his cats in some florida news paper, id like anybody in florida to take a minute of their time, and check the classifieds for me.  If you do happen to come across his ads, then please e-mail me the name of the paper, and contacts.  I want everyone to be aware of his behavior, and bad practices.

maybe he can put some pressure on dan since he allows dan to use his name as a customer
 
Well this guy is a real piece of work.
     Greg, well to your sick snake i know you said it would go back to Florida, but I hate to see that happen because he obviously does not care about these animals and if you ship it back imagine the life it would  have.  If she gets better and holds a meal down even if she doesn't she will have a better life in your care for aomeone who does care.

      As a person who has exotic cats I will keep his name in mind and pass it along to those I know.  Hopefully his cats are well taken care of, I can only hope so I can sleep at night without dwelling over it.
