Hello everyone!
First let me introduse myself; I have a background in marine biology but, thanks to my husband, I now also have a growing facination with reptiles. And especially chameleons. I have an 8 month old male Sambava panther chameleon named Sammy.
I have been doing a lot of reading in books and online about chameleon husbandry and lately especially about hydration.
My chameleon is not showing any signs of dehydration and I provide water daily by spraying or dripcup. I also have a humidifier on a timer to keep the humidity up during the day. The humidity generally varies from 40 to 85.
I have recently read a lot about showering chameleons and the opinions seem to vary. I am personally very reluctant about it since it seems to me that it would be awefully stressful for the chameleon to be moved to a bathroom once a week (as some people recommend).
So my question is this: is showering really necessary or should it more be used as a way to rehydrate dehydrated chameleons?
Thanks a bunch!
