    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Just purchased a Macklot's python and he's an ornery little bugger. Let me just say I have six other snakes and have never had one like this (just a baby kingsnake who used to try to chew on fingers). I'm handling him with gloves around three times a week for the past two weeks and he keeps biting my hands (gloves). I don't want to handle him too often because I am concerned he will hurt his teeth, but I want to break him of this habit before he gets any bigger than the 20" or so he is now. He eats just fine and is healthy, any ideas?
 
Hey, no offense or anything, but if you have some experience with these could you give me some more specific info like numer of times per week to handle, when we should start to see him get better, etc. We allready feed him out of his cage, so I don't think the feeding response is the reason :>poke2<:

Just handle him as much as you can. The more you handle them the more they will get used to being held. The amount of time it will take for him to calm down will depend on the animal and how stubborn or scared it is. Give him 3 days after feeding though so you don't have a regurg or elimination from the other end. You'll both eventually get to know each other and he'll calm down and in time you'll know when he has had enough handling, is hungry, going to shed or eliminate. Hope this helps.
 
I find that macklots seem to naturally calm down as adults regardless of handling or not. I haven't raised many of the babies I've produced but I have yet to see a nasty adult macklots python and my adults were all nasty as babies and automatically calmed down around the 4 foot mark. You'll never remove that feeding response though... they eat better than a hungry burm :)
