    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

OK i do not know jack about computers but i know that my husbands motherboard is out or his BIOS chip... well to hell with it ima buy him a new motherboard with a new BIOS chip... he has a grat processor, his power supply is fine and he just updrated to a new 4 gig HD (wait maybe 8 i really dont know)
any of you guys have any siggestions?

What type of CPU does he have? Intel or AMD? Also what frequency does it run at? 1 ghz, 2 ghz, 2.4, 3.0, etc? And what is the Front side bus ?100, 133, 200, 300, 400 ???

That is the info needed to make sure the board you get is compatible with his current CPU.
 
Really need to know the slot / socket configuration too. There are what 3 different sockets for the P4 alone and a couple of the speeds overlap, IIRC.

front side bus = i dont know... how can you tell

and 6 expantion slots
he has a 3d prophet II MX duel display video
creative labs sound card
modem blaster modem v92 56k (we dont have dsl yet)
and a 3-com networking card
damn its an 80 gig HD weatern digital
power supply enlight coorp. peak load 300 w. model# HPC-300-101
and 2 USB ports

Wow, really? A 3d prophet II MX duel display? I have not seen one of those in 4 or 5 years. Those cards were truly kick ass when they first came out!!

I am sure you have the AMD Athlon XP 1500 CPU. Which is a Socket A that has a 266 Front Side Bus. So whatever motherboard you get is going to need to be a Socket A that supports an Athlon XP with a 266 Front Side Bus. Also, I am assuming you have the PC2100 memory which is DDR 266 memory. The new motherboard will need to support that as well.

FWIW, of the 2 Shrap posted, I would go with the Soyo. I have been running a Soyo Dragon for over 4 years with great success.
 
LOL i really do nor know jack about computers and what russ has or does not have... his computer was built for him two or three years ago. he upgraded his HD after his MB or BIOS chip went kaplooy... i am tired of looking at the internals of that damn computer so i figured whether it be BIOS or motherboard i would just buy him a new mother board
 
dean and or sammy, russ is using sim menory right now... he said he would rather use sim than dim.. all he really want is one that has this stuff
